I don't have a problem with this. Looks to have a lot of actual new stuff. The main reason people don't like CoD is because it's usually just a rehash with a couple new guns and maps, so this is good. Also if CoD keeps slowly getting more futuristic with each release, the series will eventually be an interplanetary action game. ALSO, fans won't be able to call this "realistic" anymore. I keep thinking of more reasons why this game is likely to change CoD.
This? This is exactly what Call of Duty has needed to do for fucking years now. It's actually NEW stuff. Please, let the gameplay be just as different.
why are you all so confused by the horses Seeing as there's a massive emphasis on the effects of new technology here, I'm guessing you have to hunt down an informant in a third world country that hasn't received the same advances the modern world has, but you're ambushed by enemy troops at some point and have to work together with the local militia with their outdated hardware to escape. Entirely conjecture of course, but it really isn't that hard to come up with a reason for the horse scene.
It's probably more like "enemy has all of our advanced technology that is in everything" so we have to reside to old means (aka bullets and horses instead of lasers and cars) to beat them in some improvised, super-badass way.
I think they just went "fuck it" and decided to make the campaign entirely fun rather than REALISM N GOD BLESH 'MERICA. I'm looking foward a great campign.
Where, except for 1 and 2, did they chose realism as a leading idea for the design?
It didn't look THAT bad honestly. It sounds like a neat and better concept. The enemy takes the power away from the allied. They take over all their drones and planes that are keeping them safe, so they have to get the fucking pros to take back what's theirs and fuck them up in the process. It's a little different, I actually didn't completely hate the trailer. The horses makes since, because if everything is man'd be machines. How could they take trains, cars or planes? Gotta revert back to using some horses. I'll rent it and then maybe buy it. Can't let one trailer pull me all the way in.
so if BO2 has already done future setting, what does that mean for IW's CoD?
MORE MODERN.
I don't see why some people are bitching about this game already. (Talking about the CoD nerds, including myself.) This game looks amazing so far, from what I've seen. I'm pumped up for it already.
"There will always be men like us. Men who are willing to do... ...what has tobe done."
so slapping a new theme (not original, just new the series) suddenly makes it a good game? odds are this is the same exact same style of gameplay, online and singleplayer, that everyone "hates" from the other games. And it will be filled with just as much gung ho unrealistic bullshit. why is everyone suddenly excited? the internet needs to make up its fucking mind and stick to its guns
But MW3 just came out last year. :(
More like 5 months ago.
Looks like they played Deus Ex:HR, Crysis 2 and Uncharted 3 and then made a game about it.
Plz have gore.
The very early Black Ops trailers had the gore from WaW but due to console limitations they were cut from multiplayer.
Well, this is different. Was expecting a "future warfare" game but nothing like this with robots and shit.
I for one wouldn't like lazer weapon shit going PEW PEW PEW [editline]2nd May 2012[/editline]
The horse riding kinda seems out of place in a futuristic themed game, but it does look different at least from the last few games.
Only thing I truly hated in the trailer. The DX:HR style music was sort of weird, to hear in there. Other than that, I'm intrigued.
You know how in the last games there's always that moment when allied forces use extreme firepower guided missles/UAV/etc. to take out the enemy that's rushing you? They better have a moment like that in this game, except when you think you've been saved, your own position gets bombarded by your own tech.

Also, I was expecting for that guy to be all young like he was on BO1 by some miracle :v:
Looks fun. I hope they bring back custom emblems in multiplayer. Loved that shit.
Looks like a really cool concept im just a little upset that treyarch had to be the ones to make it
The gameplay looks interesting. But the graphics are awful. Like, dated awful. Considering what we've seen out of the current gen, it looks Modern Warfare 1 quality. That game came out 5 Years ago.
The gameplay looks interesting. But the graphics are awful. Like, dated awful. Considering what we've seen out of the current gen, it looks Modern Warfare 1 quality. This looks pretty cool to be honest. World at war was fucking great.
That horse riding part reminded me of Gunman Chronicles even though you never get any horses in that game, still has western vibes to it though. This game really makes me think of Battlefield 2142 even though the stuff in it looks nothing like 2142. (except for the mech things I suppose)
It looks like MW3 but now with ROBOTS and instead of blowing up New York, let's blow up Los Angeles! The guns don't even look futuristic. [editline]1st May 2012[/editline] And it seems like they're dropping anything interesting from the single player from BLops.... I wanted more Cold War-esque campaign because the Blops campaign was actualy pretty good. Now it's just the Terminator with horses. Eh... we will see what they reveal more.
Now it's just the Terminator with horses.
sounds fucking awesome.
They use the same fucking assets for everything.
I hope they reference the MW series in this. I like to think that all the CoDs take place in the same timeline, so it would be neat if they showed a little of that. If this is 2025, MW3 was just 9 years previous. I'd like to see a character talking about how the carnage reminded him of the news back in 2016 when he was a kid or something.
The guns don't even look futuristic.
To be honest. I think they do. I saw some new guns, but I also saw a lot of guns that exist now but are in prototype phases or never reached full production. Like the XM8 and PDW Pistol. Most people consider those weapons 'futuristic' looking. Back in Nam' we were being issued M14, M1 Garands and M1 Carbines and all the sudden the M16 was introduced and it looked really strange and futuristic to them. Now the M4 and M16 family of rifles are some of the most widely used firearms in the world today.
The horse riding kinda seems out of place in a futuristic themed game, but it does look different at least from the last few games.
best way to remain unseen in a hightec world maybe is to ditch all electronics which would explain the horsies i guess
best way to remain unseen in a hightec world maybe is to ditch all electronics which would explain the horsies i guess
It helps illustrate a theme in the game. It provides a stark contrast between highly developed and superior technology and outdated but reliable and tested equipment. It's a creative way to fight technology, especially considering until this game we are used to be the tech-loving Special Forces and now we have to revert to practically stone-age tactics to fight what used to aid us.
