So I almost ran this guy over today. My fault or his?

I'm driving a modern car with very good brakes. If I'd been driving my old car I would have most certainly hit him.
I was doing 40mph which was the speed limit for the zone I had just entered. If I'd been going any faster I would have definitely run him over.
Why do you keep saying MPH? I'm pretty sure they don't use MPH in the UK.

I'm pretty sure we do.

Do you live under a rock or something?
Sounds like a chav.
However, bicyclists are expected to follow the rules of the road as a vehicle.
Yet he was crossing at a pedestrian walk way.

yes, the mph scale on the speedometer is just there for novelty value.
That's his fault
because he's in the road on a green light.
In america, you are supposed to get OFF the bike, stakeboard or whatever when crossing the road because if you fall you are a danger to vehicles.
Bikes can also not use a lane of traffic and must use the bike lane.
Yeah, the bike could scratch the paint. Putting a human barrier between the bike and the car fixes that issue.
I almost got ran over when I was young. I had to dive off my scooter to avoid this car. Screwed my knee up.
The driver stopped next to me and shouted incoherently at me. He was old and had square glasses. At the time it was hilarious.
Fucking bikers on the road.
That is all.
This x10
Bikers think they can do whatever they want. Switching between being a pedestrian and part of the traffic whenever they want, completely ignoring the fact that they put themselves and many others in great danger.
So no, OP. It was his fault.

Actually, bicycles are considered a vehicle in my county. And we have little to no bike lanes. As a result, we just keep right, usually on the shoulder.
But damn it is fun to get going downhill and hit nearly forty miles an hour.
I am completely invincible towards traffic while riding my bicycle. Now if you will excuse me im off to downtown to disregard all other traffic and traffic lights while speeding down the hill.
People like this make bikers look bad. I mean, I follow all the rules, and one guy like this has to give bikers a bad reputation. Jeez.
OP, it's all your fault. It's your fault for not having psychic capabilities. Everyone has psychic capabilities nowadays. How long have you been out your basement? 2 minutes?
What did you get at Tescos?
Pity you slammed on the brakes. People like that make me rage.
Everyone knows bike riders have the power to fly over traffic with their bikes.

Unless it was a toucan crossing?
What did you get at Tescos?
Nothing in the end, I was so pissed off at the situation I forgot what I went up there for.
There's this place in town where i live where a school has a basketball court that gets very popular with the neighborhood around friday and saturday nights.
To allow people to cross the busy road that leads from the north, to the south side of town, cutting through downtown, and right next to this basketball court the city constructed a bridge.
The people who love going to play basketball all walk under the bridge.
It's not like a highway bridge, it is literally a foot bridge for only people...and yet they all walk right in the busy road.
I've almost hit at least 3 people myself.
Fuck knows how many people haven't been so lucky.
He would have been 2 Points.
The pedestrian always has the right of way. Even if he is the idiot.
seems like you posted this to get people to agree with you.
it's his fault
Damn, dude. It appears you missed your 1 free manslaughter in life. :saddowns: Oh well.
(He was at fault.)
Your fault unless he was jaywalking
Using logic, I'd say it was his fault. But in Michigan, I think it's the driver's fault if he were to hit a biker or pedestrian. The reasoning is something along the lines of you're in a vehicle and you have more control of the situation or something. I slept through that part in Driver's Ed. All I know is don't hit the pedestrians at all or you're in deep shit.
Depends what the speed limit was after you left the 60 area. If the speed limit was less than 40 then it would be your fault (I don't think you mentioned the speed limit of the area you were in by Tesco.)
Also, lights and cyclists are both hazards, as soon as you saw them you should have got your psychic abilities on. Hazard perception test material right there.
I sometimes hate some cyclists. One rode out in front of me on a dark country road (so national speed limit) and I stopped obviously so he didn't get ran over and all he did was stick his fingers at me and peddled off - charming.
I find that when dealing with other drivers that are being negative just smile and go on you way. People are generally idiots that think they're all always correct.

was on a bike, crossing at a crosswalk i believe but against the light.
