weather forecasts tend to be inaccurate pretty often why is this a surprise to you? am i missing something?
weather forecasts tend to be inaccurate pretty often why is this a surprise to you? am i missing something?
I'm not surprised that weather forecast can be inaccurate beyond the 3-4 hours range, but this seems to have literally snuck up on Meteomedia somehow. At least 10mm of rain with significant hail and 30 minutes beforehand the forecast was 1mm. I was about to go outside because "meh, 1mm isn't much."
Having worked as an assistant meteorologist, I can assure you that the atmosphere is wildly dynamic, and the forecasted amount of precipitation can change within an hour of even the most sophisticated prognosis. People somehow think that forecasts can predict the future, which they cannot. They can paint an approximate picture of the atmospheric conditions at a given period of time, but you shouldn't ever trust the data 100%. It's kind of silly to get upset over a forecast, since it's not meant to tell you the future.

I was on the fence about bringing an umbrella because of that possibility. In this case it just seemed really funny to me because I've never seen such a big discrepancy between what was forecast and what actually happened in such a short time-span.
Why get so worked up about something so inconsequential?

It's slightly cooler at night in Montréal but that's it.

Whats with the identical Smart Cars across the street?
Whats with the identical Smart Cars across the street?
It's a car rental service thingy where you can take any car made available for a subscription with a certain fee depending on the sub you took.
