I'll definitely have to agree that DarkRP is fun because of all the insane situations that can happen. For example, one time I joined a gang and we were setting up our base. And then I went outside for a moment and someone put up a furry porn spray outside our base. People flipped out and the server ended up getting wiped of all props, erasing all of our hard work.
Another time, there was this guy who was getting himself into fights and occasionally screamed for no reason. I went over to my house to find him there. I told him that it was my house, and we got into an argument until he snapped and went on a murderous rampage.

Great times, but this video certainly isn't one of my best times, a kid jumping on my head going "SUCK MY PENIS PLEASE", no. I have had good things in DarkRP happen, But the community is just so full of RDMers and Griefers that it's really getting stupid now.
I was playing with a few Facepunchers and other friends on our DarkRP server and it was pretty fun. I think DarkRP is only when there are fun minded admins and like minded players and this is what made those memorable moments of the good days of DarkRP. Now there are too many pay for admin schemes and [I]super serious[/I] servers where the general rules are [B]NO FUN ALLOWED[/B].

It didn't reeally fail due to that, it was just that people lost interest and stopped coming to the servers.
It was fantastic while it lasted.
The time I had the most fun on DarkRP was one server that had two jobs called The Bloods and The Crips where they started with a gun. Another player (who I think was a cop) had changed his name to Batman so I joined one of the gangs and changed my name to The Joker. We spent about an hour of him trying to DELIVER JUSTICE and me thinking of creative ways to trick and kill him. There was even a third guy who changed his name to Harley Quinn and tried to help me out.

But yeah, I totally agree. It takes one bad apple to ruin the basket - You join a server with one RDMer and the next thing you know everyone is RDMing.
Became Mayor. Only black people were allowed to live in the fancy part of town, white people was forced by the police to go into subways and slums. Ended up being 6 white people by the end of it, on a 42 slot server that was full. The people loved me, I could walk on the streets safe, didn't need anyone covering for me.
I told the police force to retire since they had done great service, and I only kept one police chief renamed to Sheriff and he could have one man under him.
Everyone went about their usual business, but unknowing the white people were actually plotting an attack... And with almost the whole police force gone there was nothing stopping them. So sitting in my office going on with a broadcast, I get raided by their small group. Im immediately killed off.
People go wild on the chat and tries to figure out what happened. Some try to do a vote to become the new Mayor but everyone is voted down. I just idly stand by as a fellow black man to see what comes next.
The man I made Sheriff makes an advert for people to gather outside the Nexus building, and he explained what had happened. He and his man purchased boxes of guns from a gun dealer, started handing out and equpping the people. They opened the nexus door, and in stormed the whole server, an army of black men, avenging my death. The small group of white people must have literally shit their pants.
That server didn't have many admins as far as I know, it did have a forum where you could report stuff though. Racism wasn't allowed on the server, but while I was playing there was no admin around.
One of the guys that was in the white group posted a demo on their forums and got me permabanned.
Damn, if this wasn't my best memory of roleplaying ever. And to think it was done on DarkRP, that is just beyond me. Why people actually listened to me on this particular server I till this day still have no clue. Sometimes you just get lucky I guess.

one time, when i was playing with a friend, my friend and i got enough money printers where we were able to easily rack up $100,000 in a short period of time. we used this money to supply ourselves with guns. he would rob stores and houses and the like and I would cover him with a sniper. eventually, admins caught on that I was basically RDMing people for fun, so my friend and I started a PMC which was hired by some external entity to destroy terrorists. every time i saw a gun or gun-like object, I shot that person to death. admins seemed to take my excuse and let me do my thing.

Fort wars?
There was this one server I was in with a bunch of people (about 15 if I recall correctly) who had their player color set to orange all with the name "Buddhist (number here)" all crouching outside the police station on rp_downtown_v4. The prepubescent Mayor came out and said "All of you, fucking leave right now!" Then two cops came out armed with shotguns and since the orange players refused to leave The Mayor told the cops to kill them. But then all of a sudden the two cops both get sniped by a few gangsters armed with sniper rifles on the rooftops. The Mayor immediately runs back into the police station and after about 30 seconds another law is added that says "kill all orange players." Then a gun dealer comes along and gives the oranges several AK-47 shipments and ammo. Complete chaos ensued that ended up with the orange players taking over the police station thanks to a disobedient cop. After the fighting ended The Mayor was forced to stand against a wall in the main area (the spawn area with the fountain) in front of four or five orange players. Then there was an advertisement calling all players to head to the main area. The Mayor was promptly executed and then ragequitted. The cop who helped the Buddhists became the new Mayor, and times were good.

Playing on DarkRP servers with less than 50 people and with 10 year old mods? How can somebody even enjoy that? DarkRP is fun, fighting criminals, amassing printer's, mowing down police in epic raids. You just need lots of players and good staff which is very hard to find.

I didn't want to do a shameful plug, but it was inevitable.
I run a DarkRP server which it is a bit different from the normal whinging cesspit. It's been nicely developed by Ninja101 and our admins care more about fun than enforcing serious role play; so far it's only gotten good reviews from people people who have played it.
It's also running on a map by a Facepuncher called Little Town which is beautiful and a change from the very stale Downtown and massive EvoCity, and more importantly keeps out the whinging children.

I'll always remember the time me any my friends went and found the most serious rp server we could find, the map that is like a big city with a cinema and everything, I'm pretty sure it followed the story of HL2 or something since the combine guards would stop you to search you and shit and tell you off for walking around without permission.
And so we spent a while fucking with the police pretending to hide on corners and jumping around to get them to chase us, throwing things at them when we could. We actually got a hobo guy accidentally shot by them when he ran the other way to us.
We came across the cinema which was strictly off limits to citizens and decided to sneak in and hide in the corner of the theatre. They must have heard us talking or something because we looked towards the doorway and promptly screamed because there was a combine standing there. Staring.
His backup arrived and had us all line up against the wall as they handcuffed and searched us one by one. I was the closest to the door so as he got further down the line, despite being handcuffed, I seized the chance to make a run for it. My friends tried to follow and one got shot, but me and another managed to run and hide for a good 5 minutes before being shot. Funny times. :v:
It's times like these that I'm glad GMod doesn't launch for me...

It started as a serious RP server but later on it became a troll server. Serious players came into the server and the admins went undercover and did shit like "Talk like a pirate day over microphone or you get banned". Everyone who did not was banned, then we went from 21 players to 7.
It was a good time.
I was on a server where there was two different gangs, the italians and the russians.
The russian mob boss name was notorious BIG so i tough it would be a good idea to name my self tupac and be the italian maffia boss.
After an hour of recruiting members we finaly assembled the empire of tupac.
While we were building our base and buying guns to prepare the war with BIG's gang a enemy spy sneaked in , he was dressed like one of us!
AK after AK went missing, whole shipments were destroyed and we started suspecting him.
He admitted that he was a spy and gave us all of his money, we kept him as a slave. Beating and
torturing him with Justin bieber music.
He finaly broke.
He gave us the password for their base and told us what guns the BIG's gang members had. We were ready for war.
At 9 o'clock we attacked, it was hell, many friends died, but victory was ours.
Their leader was kept as a slave, forever, or so we tought.
A hour went by and we saw a big number of citizens changing their names to ''B.I.G forever'' , we saw it coming, a new war with the BIG's.
City streets were empty but the server capacity was full,strange we tough, we decided to send out a scout.
For 10 minutes nothing happend. Then we heard gun shots, our scout was running for his life.
20 citizens followed him with AK47s .
The war begun.
We were outnumbered, outgunned . We fought for our lives but we could not stop them , we were defeted. Our gang quickly fell apart as every one rage quited. A sad day for us TUPAC'S but WE WILL PREVAIL!!!!
