My local gamestop's dollar bin is full of Madden games. Several of them are priced at one cent. Why do retailers still buy them?

I remember after about a week of bad company 2 coming out, I wanted to trade it in for something else (I can't remember which, may have been mass effect 2 at the time i'm not sure), I had bought it for £40 and I traded it in for £16, I then watched them put it on the shelf for £30

There's a local business near my house (not a franchise), and the owner is very nice about trade ins. I finished a game in a week and realized I didn't like the multiplayer, traded it in and got another game for it.
Though that's probably because the place is pretty small and he knows which people will come back for sure.
At first I thought that was the worst customer service I have ever seen but then I realised that it was staged.

Working at GAME I find trade in prices annoying myself, I can only agree with customers (when management isn't there) when I tell them Black Ops 2 trades in for about 11-13 pounds and seeing the look of shock on their face. Then we we sell it for £30 odd. I understand the whole "Buy low, Sell high" that companies do but fuck me.
