Just some crap I made before going to bed.
Was going to draw some mask related image about something along the lines of "I'll always be me even though there is a ton of different kinds of me".
But kinda ended up just scribbeling some circles to test out the new brush... And well...

Can you spot the nose and mouth? Shouldn't be too hard, but it helps to see it as a shape if you can't.

Recently got my 500D, I have minimal photography experience, so I'm kinda diving right into the world of photography, been reading up about stuff, playing around with semi-auto modes.

Search for an actual subject that is interesting to take a shot of instead of just focusing random things and moving the camera away to have one huge pic of DoF which everyone seems to love.
Also, i found an acapella version of Hot n Cold and an instrumental of Straight Through My Heart by the Backstreet Boys on my comp and decided to mix them up. Unfortuantely i needed to do some cutwork so live mixing was not possible. I then downloaded the demo version of some silly mixing program and did it with that. Thing is it is generally weird and i can't disable the keylock, which you can hear. Also i have decided to stick to live mixing.
But anyway, results:

But it [b]IS[/b] boring. Not only are those three red dots annoying (lense shade can fix that), but all the grass should be silhouetted, right now it just fades away into focus-less nothing. Grass is out of focus anyway. Sunset on the water is cliche, therefore boring. Clouds are distracting as they have no definition and the entire picture is low-quality (resolution and size-wise).
Your girlfriend needs more experience, stop thinking that just cause she can take a picturesque scene with a point and shoot that she is brilliant.

it's an alright picture, it's a nice scene to look at but apart from that it's boring. One good rule for sunset pictures is give them a subject otherwise they all look the same.

^ using my own picture as an example, just by giving it the tents in the foreground it makes it more interesting and sets a scene.
(and for anyone who wants a little sunset tip, try different white balance options, often leads to good variations of colours)
