Good subject, just boring compossition. Good if you're not trying to be too artsy.
I've been trying to improve my photography, been at it for a while now, Beatz has been a great help with my photography. Thanks for your CC peabrain, also are you shooting in heavy rain?
Im hoping too, the weather has been quite overcast of late and the forecast calls for rain Tues-Thurs. I have a few ideas for different subjects and just wanted to make sure my equipment was properly protected.
Shoot under an umbrella perhaps?
Maybe if I was an octopus. 2 handed SLR with an umbrella, a camera bag, and whatever else Im totting around? No thank you.

Attach umbrella to 3 foot PVC with duct tape.. Attach PVC to back with bunjee cords.
Score.
Learned about using the shutter time and diaphragm today after a good photographer I know taught me.
I just love these reflecting globe thingies

If that's the case, maybe you should just work from sheltered areas. Or maybe you can buy some Plexiglas sheets and make a giant cube. Then you can shoot from inside of your see-through cube.

Was it an accident or...?
You shouldn't talk shit to Brian because of his style... There's no bad technique in his photos, nor is there anything horribly offputting. You're just talking down to him because you don't like his style, which is pretty obnoxious.

I just shot 3 photos which are absolutely hilarious but they're horrible in my eyes so I don't know if I should post them

I like Brian's style.
However, I think he should do something else than taking photos of people (mostly girls) with the lightsource dircetly in front of the model.
For me one important part of art is to experiment with everything such as subject, light, composition etc. I do not see him making any experiments, especially subjectwise.
Brian, don't you want to do something else for a change? Nature? Cities?

I really want one with a little desk built in so I can go sit it in the courtyard outside my dorm in the pouring rain and do homework... it'd be really quite soothing and easier to concentrate....

I have owned my first DSLR for 1 month now, I think it's time I quit messing about and started to take good photos! But for that I need criticism on my tries.
So here goes nothing!
I took two pictures behind my front door, and using subtle commercial, I produced this.

I liked how it looked and took a second picture:

(Resized to 800x600)
I used a canon eos 450D (Rebel XSI for the yanks)

He's a portrait photographer, he takes pictures of people, not other things. I have no idea why everyone keeps telling him to do something else than taking pictures of people.
