Hey guys, I need help picking out a new lens.
I want to get the [url=http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-100mm-f-2.8-USM-Macro-Lens-Review.aspx]Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM[/url] to take macro photos, but I wanna know if I can also use it as a replacement for my kit lens (EF-S 18-55) as in take normal, non-macro photos. And will it take better pics than the 18-55?

Yes you can.
Amazing lens but sometimes you will want a wide shot as 100mm is telescopic.
so it won't really 'replace' it.
also it will take sharper pictures.. yes with more DoF control

I did well for a first time with a DSLR on manual mode. I was scared that I wouldn't get anything good at all, and I even shot in the RAW format. Cool stuff.

Telephoto, not telescopic.
100mm on a crop sensor is 160mm, which is extremely long when considering a walkaround lens.

The whole point of RAW is to edit. otherwise Jpeg will look better. I use RAW + Jpeg almost all the time now. I either shoot manual or Av with a low exposure comp for faster shutter. Then I raise exposure in Camera RAW.

Yeah, I shot with RAW with Jpeg, but what I meant by the whole not edited part was that I didn't add anything extra to what I usually do to my photos. I just fixed up the temperature, adjusted the curves a tiny bit, and that's about it.
