Or just adding a button on the main page that does the same.
"By pressing the button I confirm that I'm over 18 and blah blah blah"
That just makes it look like a porn site.
im only 9 so i cant watch bad movies on the internet my mom said if i go to www.pornhub.com i get brain cancer and die
4chan doesn't make you press agree every time. :downs:
It does if you go to an 18+ board from the front page
Haha, I go to that porn site whenever Redtube is down.
www.myfreepaysite.com, incase any of you were wondering.

Wait, can I link to porn? Delete it mods if it's not allowed.
They do it for legal reasons, calm down.

I thought of this.
When I saw the title, I was thinking of something more like
"Eat a penis, make Bill Gates older"
What pisses me off is that at 17 in the US you can watch R rated movies and play M rated games legally (M=17+) and yet when I put my real birthdate in they still block me for some jackass reason.
Honesty has it's own rewards gentleman, when asked you should tell the truth!
Theres porn on the internet?
The internet was made for porn bro
waah waah im too lazy to put in a fake age on an age verification thing
fucking deal w/ it
it's to keep them from being liable of any damages...
You're missing the point. They're not supposed to stop underage people from viewing the content, they're supposed to absolve the content provider of legal responsibility (which they do).
Well that's the legal reason, but the politically correct reason is that people don't want their precious little children looking at porn and violent videos on the internet.
I'm sure that if someone tried hard enough they could make a case against age gates saying that they don't actually stop minors from seeing porn and stuff like that and they would have to come up with a more secure method.
It's against the law to lie about your age for one, so if you get caught you're fucked. And secondly it is the law for sites to have that to alert people about certin things.
there kinda there to prevent law suits
MY LITTLE JIMMY SAW INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT ON YOUR SITE!
well he knew the rules and entered a forged birth date, no liability on us.
I thought this thread was about, Eating a penis will make Bill Gates age.
It's only to cover their own asses in case minors do view the material. They know that it doesn't work.

honestly i did too :ohdear:
I love how I can set my birthday as Jan 1st 1900 on these, making myself one of the oldest people alive :buddy:
who has the ability to furiously masturbate while scrolling and clicking at the speed of a 20-year-old.
I thought this thread title meant "[If you] Eat a dick, [you] age [bill] gates"
:eng101:
I just scroll the year date all the way down....never bother actually using my real birth date
Doesn't really bother me
I think they should just add a 'HEY BITCH THIS SHIT IS INTENSE, ARE YOU READY OR WHAT' button.
Theyre their so they cant get sued if children see porn on their site.
I don't find them annoying.
They just tell me good things lie ahead!
They should make a firefox plug-in that bypasses agegates, much like the plugin called Skipscreen that bypasses rapidshare/megaupload/etc timers.
Age gates are those things they put on websites that make you enter your birthday because the content is only for 18+.
They're also fucking stupid. Here's why:
1. The point of an age gate is to alert minors that they shouldn't be viewing certain content
2. If a minor wants to watch something with an age gate, it's trivial to bypass it by putting in a fake birthday
3. It takes more work to answer an age gate honestly than it does to put in some improbably old fake birthday
4. Apparently date of birth is "personal information" so no websites will store your information once you go through the age gate. Which means you need to go through the gate every fucking time you visit a site
When I was under 18, I never really minded age gates. They were still annoying but were easy enough to get around and perhaps it felt a little like I was cheating the system by looking at stuff I "wasn't supposed to see".
But let me tell you, age gates only become more irritating when you're over 18. Now whenever I want to visit a site that it's perfectly legal for me to visit, I have to put in my frickin' birthday. And you know what? Even though my real birthday will let me into the site, I still lie about my birthday just because it's faster to scroll down really far and say I was born on January 1, 1923. Every website with an age gate should start anonymously recording the ages they're given and then compile a graph with the birth date distribution. "Wow, 99% of the people who visit our site are born on January 1st and are over age 50! And only 0.00000001% of our visitors are under 18 and didn't get past the gate."
And the fact that no websites will store a cookie with your age just rubs it in. I honestly wouldn't give a fuck about every site on the internet knowing my age if it meant that I wouldn't have to enter it into another age gate ever again.
And another fucking stupid thing: gaming websites are way more stingy about age gates than porn sites. Almost every gaming site will make you meticulously enter your exact date of birth in order to see a trailer with animated violence and pixelated partial nudity.

Most porn sites (if they even have a gate) will simply make you click a button or check a box that says "I verify that I am over 18." See? They fucking understand. They know that people under 18 can bypass their shitty age gates so why bother making it complicated?

The bottom line is they're redundant, politically correct time wasters. Almost all content that has an age gate also has another notification saying it's only for mature audiences, it's almost completely ineffective at stopping minors from viewing inappropriate content, and it in attempting to restrict people who are under 18 they end up getting in everyone's way.
So? They aren't meant to keep minors from looking at the content.
It's there so they are not liable and so they cannot be sued because some kid went to some porn site without some sort of verification. They have those to protect themselves, not the children.
It's required by law, so deal with it.
