[QUOTE=D0C H.;29026817]Its hard for me to listen to really unique/cool (i.e. not rap/pop mainstream stuff thats just smashed sounds) and not imagine a scene for it. Its hard to explain what I mean, but the music has to be atmospheric and have........ "flavor". Does that make sense?
That is why I think I should start my film making with music videos. I would even be happy making non-profit videos. All I need is a nice camera and sound equipment and a computer for editing. Due to me being in college I am more than sure I could find actors that would work for free. AND I know a little bit about video editing. So I need $3,000 for a camera. $700-$1000 for a new computer, and I dont know how much for sound equipment. Then I could get songs I love and start making vidoes for them and release them unofficially. So for cost....... Im only about $4,300 short. :saddowns:

I have also heard of a few film makers starting in music videos, and successfully going into the film industry.[/QUOTE]
I haven't heard about the music video thingie, but it makes sense, giving you inspiration and whatnot.
What I do regarding video making, is my friend has a nice camera and video editing, so I write and direct, he films and edits.
Great partnership :v:
UUUUUUUGH. You have access to film equipment? I can't describe how jealous I am. i have absolutely no access to film equipment. I am currently in my fourth semester in college, heading into my fifth. Full grants all the way through, and I even made it on the dean's list. I just recently decided that I am no longer going to Fresno State (a university in California) to pursue a major in criminology and eventually join the U.S. Marshall Service, and instead am going to make films. I don't care if it only makes me enough money to pay the bills for a small house and a single car. As long as I am making films and having fun, I couldnt care leess about being rich.
Also Spike Jonze and Tarsem started in music videos and moved to movies and were successful.
Anybody else finding it hard to find motivation? Im way ahead, so the need to stay on schedule isnt there. To be honest, I dont like my characters, setting, or plot direction, and I cant think of a good way to fix it. So without either of those, I just dont know what to write.

I'm having doubts about the continuity in the opening scene, I've decided to skip that chapter and start writing chapter 2.
42 pages now. How about you guys?

Yeah you do man. How many do you have so far? Its almost halfway through, twenty-something days to go.
Also, it looks like its just me and you iceman.
I haven't done anything for this because my PC was screwed up for most of the beginning so now I feel like I won't accomplish it if I try. Wah. I'm feeling something akin to writer's block.
[editline]16th April 2011[/editline]
Plus my PC got formatted due to being fucked up and I lost the whole epistolary I wrote
[editline]16th April 2011[/editline]
so now I have nothing to base a script on
I was gonna try this, but I forgot about it and missed the beginning. Ah well.

That sucks man..
I've only got 13 pages around.
I suck. I really do.
What are you guys at? I got bored of my original script and started writing something else. The rules said I could add something else if I finish my original, which I plan to do eventually. I have 54 pages.

I've been improving my story a lot, I'm not sure I'll finish it, but I'm sure I'll get far.
I'm trying to sign up, but I can't get past this fucking math question.
[sp]Anybody know what 1+9 is?[/sp]
Why did this thread die. Did everybody give up? Am I the only one still doing this thing?
Fuck, I just saw this thread now, I love writing.
I lost my job and I just found out my girlfriend was cheating on me all in this past week.
I guess I won't be going anywhere or sleeping for the next week.
Im sorry for you Tarzy. I hope writing will help take your mind off of things.
Where are you at D0C?
Or you know, what's the progress :v:
Currently standing at 62 pages. Kind of scary because its the last week. What about you man?
Also Im balancing two stories right now, which is interesting.
I'm obviously not going to do it, but I wanted to see what my randomly generated storyline would be.
After shrinking to 1/4 of normal size
a lonely piggy bank
receives dating advice from the afterlife

Toy Story 4
[editline]26th April 2011[/editline]
Just added two pages. Who's up to posting their scripts after its all done? I know they will be some of the roughest scripts ever created with more spelling and grammatical errors than we can count, and dialogue that seems like it fits a mentally challenged person. But I think it would be fun. What do you guys think?
Last day. Im in a sprint to finish the final 36 pages. You guys still going?
I've got 20 pages. I'm never gonna finish, but I plan on finishing at my own pace.
Still, a good run D0C :v: Good luck buddy!
Thanks man! Even if you didnt finish for the frenzy I hope you finish eventually.
Well I did it. I "won" script frenzy by writing 100 pages of a screenplay in a month. Most people who read might think that is hard to do, but honestly almost anybody could sit down and easily write 30 pages in a day. But that's not where the hard part comes in, it comes in where the story needs substance. Sure anybody could sit down and write crap for 30 pages a day. But its not easy to write 100 pages of a screen play in a month that actually has an intricate plot (and let me tell you, I think mine counts as intricate. So much so that I had to continually go back and check to keep my facts straight and characters where they needed to be. That or I was really tired during a lot of it. I dont know). Its also not easy to keep unique characters interesting, or the plot flowing smoothly, or to round the whole thing up with a nice loud bang of an ending. Boy does my screen play have one nice bang to it. Now did I do all of those things through the whole thing? I dont know, I guess I really need an outside perspective to see whether I did or not. But all in all I found out that even though the writing WAS a chore at times, I really enjoyed it. The plot turned out much more intricate than I originally planned for, the characters much more interesting, the story much more engaging. Im glad I sat through the hours in front of my computer, Im glad I drank all that coffee, I gladly accept the headaches that come from staring at the computer screen for so many hours. In the end I cracked down and got 100 pages out. I recommend you try this at least once in your life. Take a story that you have always wanted to create and write it. Its going to suck, I guarantee it. ALL first drafts do, but give it a shot, at least once.
