Well you could try to be a personal trainer since you like to work out and help people, why not help people work out?
I am not a big guy. In fact, ever since I fucked my right sternoclavicular joint about 3 years ago I haven't been able to lift heavier weights, and I'm quite skinny now. There are lots of personal trainers in my city already who are either certified physiotherapists or steroid-sized. I'd be the last one people though about hiring. :v: Nice suggestion though. [editline]11th January 2015[/editline]
You're Jean Valjean.
I really need to read that novel or at least watch the movie. [editline]11th January 2015[/editline] Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, I think I have made up my mind. This fall I'm gonna try to get into Swedish med school (as usual) and if I don't make it, I will study to become an EMT or a physiotherapist.
I really need to read that novel or at least watch the movie.
The novel is a totally different experience from the musical, which is what the movie (which is the worst cast) is based off of. Unless you mean the Liam Neeson film, which I don't know shit about. If you want the musical, here. The best you'll find on the internet.
I agree with the whole EMT thing. You seem to love to help people so educating yourself to be a nurse I think would suit you. Since there is a big lack of nurses inot Sweden at the moment you'll find that you're guaranteed work but also flexile work times so you can find time for your hobbies. :)
So, I am a 21 year old man currently working on my bachelor's degree in computer science. I have been trying to convince myself for the last seven months that I like it and that I will get this fancy programming job when I am done, but I can't do it anymore. Even though I probably could push myself trough the remaining 2 and a half years I don't really want to work with computers and would probably be miserable. I have pretty much already made up my mind about quitting which brings me to the real problem. I don't know what I want to do with my life. It's like I have been told by society and everything around me what to do and what to aim for my entire life, and by trying to live up to these expectations I have lost track of who I am and what I want. I really want to get to know myself again so I came up with this idea of making a list about me. The general idea is for it to help me choose a new career path, but also to get a view of who I am from a new perspective. I have divided it into two categories: things about myself, and what I like/have an interest in. I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me come up with more questions to ask myself. I want to make it clear beforehand that I do not intend to provide an answer for any of the questions you ask in this thread (except maybe if they are really funny) and don't feel discouraged to ask sensitive or private stuff, it's what the list is for. What I got so far: I am an ambivert person. I am heterosexual. I am an atheist. I am politically neutral or don't really like any of the current parties in my country. I have an interest in food and drinks. I am interested in human biology, physiology and medicine. I have an interest in certain parts of human history. I like to read books. I like to watch movies. I like to work out. I like to work with my hands. I like to help other people. [editline] I realize now that I might have phrased my post in a stupid way. I'm not depressed and I've already made up my mind about the degree. I simply want questions to ask myself in order to determine which career might suit me.
Join the military
I'm a firm believer that people put too much emphasis on introversion/extroversion - you get energy when you spend time doing things you care about. If you define yourself as "introvert," you rationalize that you're "just bad at socializing." Instead of trying to improve, you just go "that's just how I am." Any and every aspect of your personality can change - it just takes effort, and it's too easy to wave away that effort by rationalizing that it's an unchangeable trait.
On the flip side of this, don't be convinced that it's objectively better to act social. I believed that it was at one time, and I made myself miserable trying to be someone I'm not, trying to change myself for the wrong reasons. And OP, try putting more consideration into what you want to do with yourself besides what kind of work you want to do. Total satisfaction with your career choice is something that very few people are likely to experience, even when everything goes as they plan. Think about what hobbies you might like to entertain, what kind of people you would prefer to interact with on a daily basis, or what kind of workplace/home atmosphere you'd prefer to have, and see if you can think of a career that would allow you ample time to indulge those things. If you haven't, holding a part-time or a summer job is a good way to get a taste of what work is like. I've learned from my experience that I dislike having jobs with schedules that I don't set for myself, I dislike large crowds, and and that I am greatly uncomfortable with management hierarchies. As a result, I've decided that I would like to become a therapist in the future, holding a private practice. While my interest in psychology isn't exactly red-hot passionate, I feel it's a career that I could get up every day and do. So yeah, think about it.

Just don't be surprised op, if things still didn't turn out better even if your field is changed. Liking to do something outside of work doesn't always means that you'll like to do them as your job. Not to discourage you, but I had fair share of friends/family that quits their study/current job, only to end up with their 'dream' job, that turn out to be not what they expect it to be. I don't know how it is in your place, but healthcare is a demanding job, consuming time, emotion, and even basic life needs (sleep, eats). Its difficult sometimes to care about others when our own needs is deprived of. As Raxas said, it better to get a taste of things just to get an idea on what it means to do something for a living.
You're fucked. Honestly, nature itself is made for powerseekers, go against that and you'll have a fight you couldn't win for another thousand years.
Well by that logic he could become a drug lord but apparently that would be an immoral thing to do.
