this is a disgusting post and you should be ashamed of it tbh
the idea of punching someone in the face because they spat on you is just fucking ridiculous. that's like whipping out a gun and shooting someone if they push you.
[editline]3rd December 2013[/editline]
and then to follow it with "HAH GENDER EQUALITY" just makes you sound like an utter child
lmfao
that entire post makes you sound like an uneducated child with a really fucked up thought process
"somebody just spat in my face, better let that sit there. somebody just punched me in the gut, better let them continue. there is a man in my house, better stay in bed and not take any form of action, physical or not."
you're post is ridiculous. it's like taking a shit on somebodies floor and then eating it up in front of them.
[editline]brickinline more like shitinmyface owned[/editline]
like seriously, i'm a wimpy as fuck ball-loving god hating englishman, and i'd punch somebody for spitting in my face. there's nothing macho or bullshit about that, it's a completely logical course of action for somebody spitting in your face. not to mention what kind of short term health issues ingesting a strangers saliva can cause, if they're not medically sound.

id rather someone punch another person out than ouright brining a gun to bear like these crazies here in the state are doing, shooting someone in your yard is murder, decking someone whos spitting on you is just a natural reaction, if they want to act like idiots they are going to get hurt by men and women alike
[editline]3rd December 2013[/editline]
out of hand demonstrations like this are exactly why things like the kent state shooting happened, thankfully the defenders in this case were not armed and were more reinforced

why didn't the group of men didn't fight back
hint: there's a pretty easy reason
This is fucking disgusting to watch, it reminds me of when a Muslim friend of mine (female) and I were walking about our campus and feminists starting screaming at her because she was just wearing a headdress.

I think it's mainly for the degree of difference, the second one of those men hit one of the feminists it would of turned into A BLOO BLOO BLOO WHY DID THE MEN HIT US WE WERE EXPRESSING OUR RIGHTS AND BEING ADVENTUROUS SEX GODDESSES
Besides the fact they pretty much ruined everyone's clothes and tried to provoke them, the moment the they spat in their faces is when I would respond and knock them out cold.
Maybe that will teach them what the extent of gender equality truly is.
how old are you
why is someone who posts like this a moderator

But why fight back when you'll be as bad as the people attacking you?
They took the high road, that's a good thing.
If you spat on me I'd tear your ass up. Pretty sure a lot of people would.
and your analogy is retarded. Guns will most likely kill you but a punch will not. You make it sound like Starpluck said "I'm gonna do the ALI SHUFFLE and Dempsey roll the fuck outta girl!"
Your spit can carry germs and diseases. In the U.S., spitting on someone purposely is a crime. What kind of retard spits on anyone anyway? That is such a blatant show of disrespect
If you don't want to get punched then don't do stupid shit like this
You spit on anyone in the street and they're going to hit you in a flash
lmao at trying to use diseases in spit to justify it
and so if you are disrespected by someone that legitimizes punching them in the face? so I guess that I should just punch you in the face for saying my post is retarded. i should punch everyone in the face who's dumbed me, and starpluck should punch me in the face for my post, etc etc etc
where does it end
why does disrespect permit violence. that's the really basic idea. i guess that's a ridiculous position to take. pardon me.
jesus, props to those guys for holding their ground like they did.
congratulations, and they wonder why the public eye sees feminism in a bad light.
the public eye sees feminism in a bad light because people are lazy, don't want to think critically, and are manipulated by a media culture that resists gender equality.
it doesn't matter how many of these people you consider "radical" and "violent" exist, or how much of a problem they are. they will always be the face of feminism if you are too complacent and too lazy to question what everyone else is feeding you.
Jesus christ, that was painful to watch.
I don't think they realized that there's a difference between standing up for women's rights and asking to be punched in the face.
Huge respect for the guys who stood up to their shit, though.
it's a completely logical course of action for somebody spitting in your face.
No, it isn't. Escalating that sort of situation will almost always end badly one or both of the parties involved, and you've already admitted that you are 'wimpy as fuck' so we already know how you would probably fair. Obviously if you were in immediate danger then violence might be an appropriate response, but if someone just spits in your face then the logical thing to do is exercise restraint, walk away, and report it to the police.

what's the difference, exactly?
the funny thing is that everyone who is dumbing me and disagreeing with me doesn't seem to see the contradiction with why they support the men in this video. the reason why this is powerful is because the men are keeping their composure and not assaulting back at the women who are spitting at them, who are spraypainting their faces, etc. they - by not reacting - show that "their morals" are above those of the "barbaric" women.
the reason why this video is so powerful is because they're not punching them. if they responded with violence? this would have just turned into a massive fistfight. it wouldn't even be as remotely as impactful. it'd just turn into a bunch of jokes about "heh bitches deserved it" instead of framing it as "wow these guys are impressive."
i don't know the circumstances behind the video (minus the pro-life rally someone mentioned) so I can't comment on it. but if i were judging just based upon the video, as many people are? i'd say the men are coming out morally above the protesters defacing them and vandalizing the property. if they resorted to violence in response, the power of that would disappear.
basically
its satyagraha

i don't really agree with this. if people retaliated then it might have turned into a riot, complete with tear gas and rubber bullets. that would have a big emotional impact since people would be able to look at this as another case of "those darned radicals starting another riot".
[editline]3rd December 2013[/editline]
no matter what, any situation involving activists or protest that is not perfectly orderly will be used to justify your preconceived notion that anything radical is unacceptable.
and if they were completely orderly then nobody would even know it happened. moderates are ignored, radicals are used to create straw men.
Imo, the image of feminism as a whole is so fucked that true gender equality won't be achieved for a long time unless another movement takes it's place
And jeep-eep, just actually reply to my posts for once

The idea that anyone would come out on top after a riot is laughable.

it changes the way in which it is framed. in a riot it would only be used as a way of demonizing protesters. in the way it played out, they're able to demonize protesters whilst simultaneously painting the other group as better.
now as to which is more effective at morphing public opinion, idk
I don't like misogynists, but those women were bitches, come on, they were, you would have cracked erm one if you had the chance.
The idea that anyone would come out on top after a riot is laughable.
cnn/msnbc/fox inevitably come out on top after a riot. so do the police and talking heads. in this specific case, anyone who wants to justify their resistance to radicalism or feminism also comes out on top.

the other group would be better anyways. "they had total justification to fight back, those feminists were spitting in their face! i would have fought back too".

i don't like misogyny but i will use misogynistic words to describe women.
Not the kind of thread you stumble upon expecting to get a boner in..
But on a serious note, big respect to the men standing their ground and not retaliating. The women could have all been floored quite easily by a quarter of the men's crowd.
These are feminists in the same way that WBC are Christians i.e. doing things that the group they're supposedly a part of don't actually condone. No part of feminism includes attacking guys.
another way to look at this could be that from the feminists point of view, the cathedral and all it stands for has been 'attacking and desecrating' them and their gender for thousands of years. not condoning this at all, just saying it's more than just a case of 'radical feminists' just being 'bitches'. also as a side note, the little attitude of 'yeaaah gender equality, that means i get to KNOCK THIS BITCH THE FUCK OUT!!!' is the stupidest shit ever and if you think this you're an idiot
'yeaaah gender equality, that means i get to KNOCK THIS BITCH THE FUCK OUT!!!' is the stupidest shit ever and if you think this you're an idiot
We should strive for a society where people don't hit eachother but the idea of violence against women being bad while violence against men is fine needs to go.
We should strive for a society where people don't hit eachother but the idea of violence against women being bad while violence against men is fine needs to go.
violence is wrong fullstop. which really makes that shitty 'HEH HEH EQUAL RIGHTS EQUAL FIGHTS!!!' attitude even worse, 'gender equality means i can be just as violent towards women as i am towards men!'

since when was that an idea in our culture? it's there superficially, but who are the majority of rape and domestic violence victims?
[editline]3rd December 2013[/editline]
violence against women is still very deeply ingrained in our culture.

is it really considered equal rights when you are just perpetuating the violent macho behavior expected of men in a sexist society?
Couldn't watch more than 40 seconds, the look on those guys faces breaks my heart. I honestly hope one day we'll have gotten over this shit. It can't seriously carry on like this indefinitely.

no it's not it's just idiots with fantasies about assaulting women making snide comment

you can't replace the movement of equality with anything other than a movement for inequality
people just want the name changed because they're naive and think it means women go above men or something dumb
