Sienna Skies I haven't lurked these guys a lot, but they're new to the scene and have some bomb ass music. Asking Alexandria Blah blah, they're good in recordings, but suck live. Listen to this song, it has beautiful lyrics. [editline]10:14PM[/editline] Although, I do love the beginning of Soda in the Water Cup by Attila.
Asking Alexandrina are a little gay for my taste, can't stand all the techno/keyboard shit going on Sienna Skies are alright, I didn't like most of their stuff but I liked their song "Sea of Smiles". It's got a nice riff at the start

This is the kind of music I've been asking for.
This thread and a gig I was at last night have pretty much confirmed my dislike for Post Hardcore as a genre. With the exception of a very few bands, such as Rinoa and Devil Sold His Soul, both of which are progressive post hardcore. In short, check out Rinoa and Devil Sold His Soul :v:
I must know, why do all these rock bands of today pick the shittest names for their bands? You can date them to this era because of how horrible the names are.
you didn't just call those bands rock lol
Listened to some of these songs. Just not my scene. The only metal i like is lamb of god and slipknot.
you didn't just call those bands rock lol
They all fall into the major genre of Rock, so yeah i did.
you didn't just call those bands rock lol
If you think Attack Attack are metal I have news for you
they're post-hardcore so i guess we can say they're a punk band :teehee: dammit what's that emote again
Wrong [editline]02:58PM[/editline] I used to love LOG, then I stopped
Yes they do Most of these bands are metalcore, which essentially is hardcore punk with some metal elements. Heavy Metal evolved from hard rock, which, as you'd think, is a subgenre of rock music. Hardcore punk is a more extreme offshoot of punkrock, which also is a type of rock music So all the major parts of metalcore is derived from rock music
all metal, punk, and all stuff like that all comes from rock. There's no denying that. Rock is the single most influential music genre of the 1900's. There are so many types of it and so much variety in it that I can't really see how you can deny that.
And rock is derived from blues. And blues are derived from some other music, all of which is derived from classical music, all of which is ultimately derived from two rocks hitting against each other in some form of pattern. Following this train of derivatives is pointless. If you're going to backtrack metal that much, why not say that all music falls under the genre of "two rocks smashing into each other"? Now I don't know about you, but I've never heard someone truthfully say that Bach, or Nickelback, or Behemoth, are all two-rocks-smashing-into-each-other. However, I have heard them referred to as classical, or alt rock, or metal. Let's keep it that way, please?

I'd say jazz is hu hu hu
If you think Attack Attack are metal I have news for you
Hell no, but they're not rock [editline]03:41PM[/editline]
Yes they do Most of these bands are metalcore, which essentially is hardcore punk with some metal elements. didnt blues form in the late 1800s tho
wow nooooooooooooo
idk I don't really care also I think this fits here: http://www.metalhammer.co.uk/news/rob-halford-praises-bring-me-the-horizon-for-pushing-limits/ Rob Halford likes and respects BMTH
yeah and kerry king "thinks" killswitch engage is amazing who gives a shit they aren't involved in the contemporary music scene.
BMTH do definitely have a unique sound though. Their last two albums at least. first one was a generic deathcore album.
BMTH has a unique sound but they are still horrible
Skagos/Panopticon split finally came out. The clean vocal parts in Skagos' songs are amazing. Here is my favorite song from Skagos' half of the split. and my favorite song from Panopticon's half. As for upcoming albums in 2010, I'm looking forward to Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit.
Attack Attack! Is not metal, its Crabcore
It's either post-hardcore or metalcore, crabcore is just a genre that a bunch of morons made up because of what the guitar player did in their music video.
It's either post-hardcore or metalcore, crabcore is just a genre that a bunch of morons made up because of what the guitar player did in their music video.
No, it is a valid genre and Attack Attack isn't the only one in it. There just aren't words to describe how bad it is, so "Crabcore" is all that can be said.
attack attack aren't that bad
