tbh jim's review sucked ass and he really had zero objectivity
i mean this game is 500000x more fleshed out and playable than most of the games that end up through greenlight and he titles the video "new worst game of 2014"? what a knobhead

even if it isn't a review you can at least acknowledge that fact, especially if you self-title yourself as the main player of greenlit games
It is not a review, he doesn't have to be objective and from the 10 minutes of inceptionised video (I can't be bothered with the first impression and the rebuttal video) I can easily see that it is shit.
Just because other games on greenlight are also shit doesn't mean you cannot call these devs out on their work. It's complete garbage and while I really do respect them for putting together a game it doesn't mean it is any good.
I am baffled by people's inability to read. He blatantly says and it's obvious from the format of his original video that it isn't a review.
I think people are trying too hard to hate Jim.
I think people throw the term review on something so they can break it apart.
Both sides are pretty stupid on this.
On Sterling and his initial video : sure it is not a review and he stated that as such, therefore the developers could accept a certain big margin of the player not understanding the objective at all during their playtime. If the video was a review it would be objective and analyse the game, straying from making too many connections directly to the developers.
Nobody can deny the "first impressions" video is supposed to be a tasteless point and laugh in the developers face(s?), though. Sterling has a huge amount of viewers and such a video will result in an incredibly negative impact for the developers (not saying all of his points were illegitimate though). It does look like a bad game but using your responsibility as a person that many people follow to make fun of someone is a pretty dickish move. Just let the game shrivel and die on its own. Now the devs bit the trollbait and will be involved with tons of negative pressure - some people don't seem to realize how this could affect the developer(s?) lives.
Does noone see the irony of Sterling voicing over the developers text commentary video? Both are just aping eachothers opinions with negative commentary. In such a bad way that Sterling seems like a satire of today's video game journalists to me(I'm assuming he's serious about it though / anyone clear me up on this I don't usually watch these people).
But hey, I'm sure Jim will get tons of ad money the possibly following shitstorm (Wow! My one video somehow turned into 2 videos with literally the same content!).
hahahaha the game looks so fucking shitty
I could probably make a game better than he can and I have no experience making games like AT ALL
I love how the trailer on the Steam page is actually 10 minutes long, 2 minutes actual footage and 8 minutes of it just being a black screen.
Okay, now I won't deny the game is shit, and the developer is doing some bad and idiotic stuff. BUT he does have a bit of a point about how Jim approaches games, he goes out of his way to make every greenlit or early access title he finds look awful because admitting that indie devs are capable of making good games is outside of his world view and he does quite clearly blame the games for his own problems on more than one occasion. It's a shame, I actually really like Jim's editorials, but when he's unscripted he just makes as big of an asshole of himself as he can.
Early Access and piss poor games have clogged steam up so much that you couldn't see all of them without rifling through 300 store pages. What happened to the old Steam that was weary of taking on anything that didn't have a proper publisher or looked like absolute garbage.
I don't even bother browsing the store anymore because its impossible to not find shit early access everywhere
I hope people do this more often. I laugh at Jim's video, I laugh at the response video, and I laugh at the response to the response.
Thirty minutes of free laughter, I cannot complain.
He even does the "HE DOESN'T MAKE GAMES THEREFORE HE'S A MORON" fucking argument that Deviantartists use :v:

Well this developer didn't make much of a game himself, seeing as 95% of the assets are either bought from the store, or downloaded for free. These types of games should be no where near Greenlight.

TB's comment literally took the words out of my mouth.

This would be a valid point if the developer weren't a giant jackass who put minimal effort into this game.
If you watch most of Jim's early access videos you notice the theme.
Game dev trying to make a quick buck with stock assets and minimal effort then putting it onto greenlight.
I gotta say, I love how the dev complains about Jim not mentioning UI elements. It's like he thinks health bars are innovative.

I assume you got a free key for this?
This might be the best developer meltdown yet.
When will people learn that if you can't take criticism then game design is the WROOOOOOOONG field for you.
Man, if you can't handle criticism you shouldn't be in any creative field whatsoever.
What in the everloving fuck. People are actually saying Jim did something wrong? Granted most of the people here posted sane opinions on this but blaming Jim for making fun of this shit? Are you serious?
Why defend this? Did you see the game? Would you be so bold and sell something like this? It deserves all the shit it gets, the developer is a cunt and it's a growing problem in the Steam Market, with all the bullshit being already sold there. I'd be ashamed to claim this product as "made by me" and the dev is actually proud of what he did to the point where he insults famous reviewers.
He faked reviews on Steam for fucks sake stop defending this asshole. Jim did the only right thing, it doesn't even deserve any critism since the devs aren't taking it anyway, just make fun of the shitty developer and his piece of shit "game" and drive him out of the industry. There is no place for him if he doesn't improve.
I'm genuinely thinking you are autistic or something how can you be so far gone/disconnected with the world? Do you honestly believe the things you just posted?
It deserves no fair review. It shouldn't exist.
Jim plays these kind of games to prevent people from wasting money on an unfinished/bad product
There may be people who actually think this could've been a decent game, including me, this video can save people some money
This is something I'd expect to see on Desura.
Man Steam is getting really bad with greenlight now. what the fuck guys
this confirms that you can be infinitely stupid and not die from something retarded like drinking bleach because you thought it was juice
which is what the devs really aughta do
[editline]3rd November 2014[/editline]
I hope they read this because hey
drink bleach ASAP
Oh, here's the response on Jim's response to the developers' response to Jim's video.

Hahaha "it's sad that you think I'm angry". Really? He's gonna play that card after the pure lava he spewed in the last video he made?
tbh i do feel kinda sorry for this guy. and it seems like massively poor form for jim to go this far into tearing apart some nobody on steam so shortly after shying away from any sort of dangerous situation re: his circle of buddy devs. still have seen no evidence that sterling has targeted anyone but 1) giant multinationals that he can't effect 2) single-person developers that he can destroy financially with a single video
[editline]4th November 2014[/editline]
to clarify i get the consumer awareness stuff which is totally valid, this game shouldn't be on steam, but how is tearing apart the kid's impotent reply video helping anybody make an informed buying decision.

You are quite right in the sense that the Jim's second video was nothing more than kicking someone when they are down. It is not like the developer's response video was going to make any difference to anything.
But at the same time think about it this way, the game is obviously shit. Jim has a look and rips it to shreds just like it deserves. But then the developer has the audacity to not only not to shut up after their very blatant attempt at a cash grab was foiled, but to respond in a mocking and insulting way, as if they were right in making the game. That could be quite frustrating for a game reviewer as well. After all they are human too.
Again, seriously I respect the developers a lot simply for having the guts to go through with designing a game. Even if it is shit that is a huge huge accomplishment and is worthy of praise. But that doesn't change the fact that the game is shit and making a joke of the whole greenlight system as with so many other games. In my book if you are asking for money for something you have made you should be ready to be criticised to hell and back. If a single review can destroy you financially, then maybe you should have made a better game.
Also I don't really see who else Jim can target, I mean his first impression videos are generally of indie games simply because those are the games that abuse Steam the most, and his reviews on big releases are mostly created by big developers. There isn't much of a middle ground in the games industry.

This is a screenshot on the game's store page... for some reason.
I know some people with games on steam, he's legally not allowed to show this screen under NDA.

not that it changes anything but the devs are two brothers who are in their 40s.
Devil's advocate here, but the dev review raises a fair few points. He didn't explain anything about the game, show menu options etc. Sure it's a shit game, but Jim Sterling's 'review' isn't too great either.
nobody should care
Why?
First up, it isn't a review
Second, its complete garbage.
You know those games that are so bad that make you feel bad? This is one of them.
Only 1 character has any background to it and model details, game music is looped and playing forever in the main menu and while playing the game, the enemies don't make sense and blow up in a blood splatter in the most dumb and choppy way as if animations were done in a few minutes, ammo system is crap because you only get ammo for the weapon in hand apparently, there is no quest system since you can't even call it a quest system, aiming reticule isn't even aligned with the guns, bringing out the pause menu doesn't actually pauses the game, and when you click "exit game" it actually exits the whole game, doesn't takes you to the main menu or anything, and all that is just the tip of the iceberg.
This is the kind of game one would find in those point and click ads that say "shoot 4 and win an iPhone!", difference is you have item pick ups here and there, and move around.
Oh, and the HUD is HORRIBLE.
not that it changes anything but the devs are two brothers who are in their 40s.
ouch that is sad. they are still obviously incompetent and their word is meaningless, especially in the context of replying to it for thousands to see
No Jim Fucking Sterling, son.
Sequel is a disappointment.
