Can't wait for it, was watching the trials earlier. Never used to care about them until I joined track my sophomore year. Watching all the throwing events, sprints and weightlifting. Pure power.
I will forever see Lisa Simpsons giving head to Bart in that logo. [editline]4th July 2012[/editline] seriously, how high do you have to be to make a logo like this..How higher do you have to be to actually pick it?
I am now scarred for life
Hello Friends london olympic is coming soon 21 days after
No, i'm really excited about it actually, parts of it are really amazingly well organised, others not so much. Will update after first day on the job!
When will that be and will it be in the dead of night?
When will that be and will it be in the dead of night?
on the 23d and yes like 2am.
I watched the olympic torch in my town today. I essentially stood in the rain for 40 minutes to see some kid run past slowly with a golden stick. I expected more of a parade :(
Looking forward to it, I got tickets to see the field hockey and the women's volleyball... But not the beach variety :(
I wanna see the expression on whoever he uses this move on's face.
Compared to china's stadium, that looks quite small. Also, I though BMX in the Olympics were cancelled this year.
I prefer the Winter Olympics, but I'll probably watch Mtn Biking and maybe BMX.
I'm highly doubtful that the stadiums will see use after the event.

I doubt its opening performance will beat China's. Because damn it was good.
Don't plan on watching most of it, only really going to see the few things that interest me, everything else related to it im sure I will hear from people at work / on the news. Good thing I can't remember what china's opening was like so I can't compare them
I love the Summer Olympics more than any other sporting event. Seeing all of the different nations coming together in peaceful competition is pretty awesome. There's gotta be few things in the world that feel as good as winning gold. Knowing that, at that instant, you are the best person in the world at a given task/event has to feel great.
I'm highly doubtful that the stadiums will see use after the event.
They have actually taken all of that into account really well, with a task force who are in charge of handling the venues after the games. Not all of them are staying, 2 are temporary (basketball and water polo) and will be dismantled, and a few are already existing used venues like Horse Guards Parade and Lords Cricket Ground. The ones that are staying have already got their future uses planned out, the stadium will be a new all purpose stadium hosting concerts and sports and the swimming pool will become a community pool after they remove the extra seating.
I doubt its opening performance will beat China's. Because damn it was good.
Wasn't half the spectacle achieved because of the harsh, militaristic conditions the performers practiced in?
Wasn't half the spectacle achieved because of the harsh, militaristic conditions the performers practiced in?
It's amazing what you can achieve when you are unshackled of human rights!
Compared to china's stadium, that looks quite small. Also, I though BMX in the Olympics were cancelled this year.
The bird's nest is absolutely massive though.
Can't wait for it to start. The Olympic games are always a highlight for me (No goddamn football for once). It's also the only time you watch stuff like archery, hockey (not ice hockey) and triathlon. I'm really looking forward to the tennis tournament, hope that Federer can finally get that singles medal. He's got good chances after winning Wimbledon.

No speed walking? What is this shit?
But Football is in the games. You can not escape it!
I know, but I can refuse to watch it. Also, it's only the youngsters (U21), so who even cares :v:
I finally have some news! They decided to take the torch down a white water rafting course and the flame went out.
More news as we get closer: Security problems abound: http://edition.cnn.com/2012/07/17/sport/olympic-security-overview/ TSA will be at london airports (have fun with that!):http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/transportation-security-administration-inspectors-posted-british-airports-effort-beef-safety-olympic-games-london-article-1.1116617?localLinksEnabled=false Olympic Village is now being populated with athletes: http://www.rantsports.com/clubhouse/2012/07/17/london-olympics-athletes-arrive-at-olympic-village/ 9 days until the games officially start and the first events are in a weeks time with football (GB vs NZ at 16:00 GMT +1) All times for events are always +1 GMT (or BST for those in the UK but GMT is easier so bite me) First medals will be given out on the 28th (which will be the Women's 10m Air Rifle)
MTB is kinda crappy this year, it's essentially a dirt path with a rock garden in the middle. It might as well be a cyclocross track Look at this, it's pathetic
Broadcasters (If you live under a rock) Online streaming is available in the UK and US (links are below) UK- BBC BBC Olympics page (it could also be on iPlayer) US- NBC NBC Live Extra (You NEED a ACTIVE TV subscription) CAN- CTV CTV Olympics (Unsure about live streaming) EU- Eurosport (If you want it in your native language, just take a look around) RU- Channel One News updates: 18,200 UK troops deployed to secure the Olympic Games Link The Opening Ceremony will begin at ~8:50PM Friday and should be live on the BBC and online. It will be tape delayed in other territories (but will generally be on around 7pm) Now I would like some feedback, I can post some score sheets that I can fill in with current scores and brackets (football, tennis ect.)

It looks like some kind of "FUN OFF ROAD SEGWAY SAFARI AND CYCLING PARK" for tourists.
Fed up hearing about the Olympics and the bullshit surrounding it like brand police, pre-emptively arresting graffiti artists, and the "Team GB" Football team really being "Team England rejects". Also I can't shake a gut feeling I've got about some serious shit going down in terms of terrorism.
Also I can't shake a gut feeling I've got about some serious shit going down in terms of terrorism.
That's the feeling you get when you're surrounded by constant security.
