no one will ever surpass the Beijing 2008 opening saramony
Thank god they never had a "saramony"
Was anyone else disappointed when the rings didn't turn into a quidditch stadium and the performers take off on brooms?
Would have been nice to see what Doctor Who stuff they would have done, its pretty british itself Still, fantastic ceremony - I expected to see something that paled in comparison to Beijing and was quite surprised

After the industrial revolution bit the ceremony became lame as fuck. Can't blame em thou, China set the bar sky fuckin high.
I have to admit that, while not hugely dissapointed, the lack of Dr Who did surprise me. That said, you can only fit so much in.
After the industrial revolution bit the ceremony became lame as fuck. Can't blame em thou, China set the bar sky fuckin high.
Mr Bean was awesome. How dare you.
Which song was played during that industrial part?
Repost for new page.
no one will ever surpass the Beijing 2008 opening ceremony
lol this isn't even close, this bit right now reminds me of a high school pep rally
Oh god the "technology/teenager" part. Nice try, London, trying to make the Olympic ceremony cool for the chavs and general young culture. Did they do that in Beijing? I don't remember.
My grandma looks hilariously mortified.
Mr Bean was awesome. How dare you.
Ya Rowan's bit was pretty entertaining, then it went back to being pretty god awful.
Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer are the worst commentators.
Arctic Monkeys cover of Come Together was incredible. Best performance of the night. [editline]28th July 2012[/editline]
Oh god the "technology/teenager" part. If that's a bad or good thing is up to you. As the commentators pointed out here in the UK, we were the birthplace of grime. The bit at the start where England was pretty and then that guy went all Saruman on it. It made me sad.
Didn't like the ceremony and that is the best part of the olympits done
What the hell is going on.

I didn't know there was as much of a difference between the two. I guess social media would be more important there because of such a small landmass and the entire Blackberry messenger thing. [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] Ooh, like the entire Tim Berners-Lee thing. That really tied the thing together.
i'm just imagining some traditional middle eastern muslim family traveling to london for the olympics and they're like "oh god what is this"
i'm just imagining some traditional middle eastern muslim family traveling to london for the olympics and they're like "oh god what is this"
I did enjoy the arab men outside the stadium being filmed before they entered. They seemed the most enthusiastic out of all of them.
i bet it feels amazing(Or terrible depending how much you want attention) being from a country with 2-3 athletes.
Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer are the worst commentators.
Oh man their comments made me cringe in the digital part.
Did any one see Best Korea walk into the stadium? They carried a second, massive flag to express how dearly they loved dear leader.
Did any one see Best Korea walk into the stadium? They carried a second, massive flag to express how dearly they loved dear leader.
I thought it was a back-up flag.
So rest of the world, what did you think? Did we do good?
Did any one see Best Korea walk into the stadium? They carried a second, massive flag to express how dearly they loved dear leader.
the US commentators dissed the dear leader
