Absolutely. But I missed the ceremony... :( How long was it?
3 or so hours
3 or so hours
what... really? is it still going?
As a resident of london i'm gonna be sad to see the games leave, we did a bang up job of it in the end. Iv'e been lucky enough to attend a few open events and see the games first hand, it's such a crying shame that come tomorrow the 'legacy' will most likely be all but forgotten. But for tonight at least the UK can be proud of what we managed to do.
Hopefully the legacy isn't forgotten, with the amount of effort they are putting in I don't think it will be. At the very least they need to keep hosting stuff in the stadiums so they don't just sit around gathering dust like in other countries. Maybe they could move the London grand prix to the stadium from next year.
I think the thing I take away from this Olympics I didn't get at Beijing is the home crowd in Britain is just brilliant. So loud and cheering on everyone regardless of their country, but really cheering on the British crowd with massive roars. The 10000m and 5000m with mo farah was just amazing, the crowd were astonishing.
Mo Farah!!!
Just ended. Also I feel that the Opening ceremony was so much better, but that's just me.
what... really? is it still going?
Finishing montage now, but yeah just about done :(
The BBC really is quite good at montages.
Just ended. Also I feel that the Opening ceremony was so much better, but that's just me.
The opening ceremony is always better, that is where all the effort goes.
Just ended. Also I feel that the Opening ceremony was so much better, but that's just me.
The closing ceremony is meant to basically be an informal party, which is exactly what they delivered IMO.
good job bbc, hey the Olympics just finished be sure to check out our show about a serial killer from the Victorian era!
I was 12 when we won the olympic bid. Now i'm in my second year of university. How time flies.
good job bbc, hey the Olympics just finished be sure to check out our show about a serial killer from the Victorian era!
I have to admit that advert worked REALLY well. The way that it just seemed to flow with the ending of the ceremony. [editline]13th August 2012[/editline]
I was 12 when we won the olympic bid. Nearly cried during Imagine. That was beautiful with Johns face projected on stage. Great remaster from Yoko (For a change). From then on the concert was incredible. Big respect for Gary Barlow.
Where can I watch this once it's uploaded? Completely missed ALL of it... Damn you SA:MP!
If you are in the UK, iPlayer. If not, the usual places.
there was no freddy mercury hologram. I am disgusted
Brian May and Roger Taylor said on the Queen Facebook a couple of months ago that they will perform with the real Freddie or no Freddie at all. Good on them, Holograms are fucking creepy.
If you are in the UK, iPlayer. If not, the usual places.
Yep, UK. Thanks.
I just regret not visiting London during the Olympics, although I was outside my country just one single time and I don't really travel out much. (minus some shopping trips to Germany) There won't be that many opportunities with Olympics being so close. And it's happening in 4 years intervals. Also - having the "getting old" feeling as well. London Olympic Games were the best ones I've ever watched so far and the crowd everywhere was amazing. I don't remember Sydney though (despite the fact I was watching), which was really good as well as I heard.
I miss the olympics
Take That = Robbie.
It was only for a single tour and album. They said that from the start. Plus it wasn't even a Robbie song. I give Take That big respect, they write, produce, compose and do everything themselves. They're not manufactured shite.
I started watching it a while after it begun and I watched the whole fucking thing waiting for Blur. Turns out they played in the very brief period that I missed. Fuck everything ever.
Played the same song twice actually. How did you miss it?
That part with John singing Imagine was probably my favourite, and the montage at the end was amazing.
Just ended. Also I feel that the Opening ceremony was so much better, but that's just me.
I think the closing ceremony was very good and well thought out. What I disliked the most was Jessy J's performance since she did not deliver like she can do and chose an outfit that was difficult to look at as well as singing one of her worst songs. In addition to this, Tinie Tempah sucked and subtracted from the already feeble performance. They could have fixed it by playing Iron Maiden's Infinite Dreams solo (like they did when "One Direction" played and fixed it with two awesome old school performances) but they chose instead the already aged music of the Spice Gurls. Still, very good closing ceremony in general.
I thought Jessie J did very well. Thought Spice Girls were fantastic.
Everyone's jumping on the bandwagon and hating Jessie J for singing Queen. I thought it was pretty good to be honest. And Boris was amazing.
