I don't mind YouTube at all so long as the actual video watching is disrupted. So I don't mind pay to download or the stupidity of the community at all. The only things that bother me are ads and slow loading. The slow loading hasn't been a problem for me for a couple of weeks or so, although the adds just seem to get worse and worse.
If there were a better site out there, I would be willing to switch, but it would have to be as convenient as YouTube is (or at least was).
I say we make http://www.internetvideosharingwebsite.com/
Apple should make a video hosting site. Nuff said.
www.movingpicturesinorderwithsound.com
it needs to be made.
Apple should make a video hosting site. Nuff said.
iTube?
Apple should make a video hosting site. Nuff said.
no. just no.
It would be shitty, manipulative, full of mac fanboys who can't accept any opinion but their own. and it would perpetuate the "lol u must have shiny aluminum box 2 be video edit0r, if u don't use mac ur vidoes ar unprofessionalololololoL" type bullshit that's already all over youtube.
and I bet they would most likely find some way to make it expensive and full of shitty ads with false information.
We need to get FP's best programmers to make an awesome site and someone who would be kindly enough to host it all for us, then we need machinima guys to make awesome videos and post them, and then we would have our own awesome video site where we could do anything we like! FUCK YEAH!
Name suggestions? FPvideos? FaceVideos? Whatever, I dunno.
FaceValue?
I vote for Vimeo.

Youtube is fucking down right now. and I mean like, down, I can't get on to the site.
greeted with this message: "YouTube is down for maintenance and will be back shortly"
fuck you google, you cocksuckers.
here's what we need to do.
get a fundraiser up and get at least $30,000
buy all the stuff you need for a server(50 1tb hdds and multiple servers to run the website on.
shitload of good programmers and someone to buy the web domain.
maybe we should buy a vps? Hmm?
Why do you need to upload stuff you didn't make?
Or does this include music in a movie, and youtube poops?
um. I think if we did that we could expand when necessary rather than jumping to 50tb's.
I don't see any problems with Youtube apart from the recent slow loading times, but that'll be sorted soon. Stop with the knee jerk reaction - you can turn the profanity filter off and paying to download is a bonus feature that doesn't stop you from watching videos.
i miss stage6 :saddowns:

We have no influence.
1. Out of sites like us, SA is bigger.
2. The majority of the people using the internet have no idea what Something Awful/Facepunch are.
3. Facepunch can never co-ordinate their efforts (except for that time we google bombed Fucking Incredible), because we're all a bunch of immature pricks.
SA is fucking horrible, everyone there is a bunch of immature douche bags that think they're better then everyone else because they paid to join some shitty forum.
Make a site called Ourtube.
In reference that we all own the site in some small ways because we contribute our videos to it.
It's like the Runescape of video streaming now.
You could put your videos on funny or die:
http://www.funnyordie.com
it's will ferrell's video site thing, most of the videos are pretty funny, its a small community, etc.
No Tube in the name. I wouldn't go for Face either since it might be associated with Facebook. Put Punch at the end but.
One thing, if anyone plans to do this then make the layout good.

It's not cool like what the 4channers did spamming porn into kids videos nearly a month ago now?
:geno:
That was fucking awesome, I don't know what you're talking about.
copyright is not an issue
just tell them about the fair use policy shit and your video is back
Vimeo is pretty good. Most videos are a lot higher quality than youtube videos.
Dailymotion > YouTube

20 minutes / 1 gigabyte limit - NO LIMITS AT ALL FOR MOTIONMAKERS

Good channel customization, with banners that can link to whatever you want; your channel customization appears in your videos!

Much better encoding (especially if you know how to encode your videos right), which gets even better if you're a MotionMaker (around 2,5mbps for the HQ if I remember right)

Processing is also way faster

Buffering is lightning-fast. (at least here in Northwestern France)

The player page automatically resizes itself to adapt to widescreen or old content (unlike YouTube's stupid letterboxing)

Copyright claims are rarely heard of since it's a French-based site (there's an international version, don't worry about that)

For Firefox 3.5 users and free-software-lovers: they have started using the open Theora codec, which The Video Bay uses; http://openvideo.dailymotion.com/

And a lot more
