Bout fucking time this showed up.
how the fuck does this look ANYTHING like CoD how are any of you fooled into thinkin Gearbox could fuck this up how does a 1 minute trailer made to show the story and not the gameplay at all indicate what the gameplay will be like? it's unbelievable how quick everyone here is to judge a game based on a trailer
BROUGHT TO YOU BY, THE CREATORS OF DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.
isn't the trailer meant to give you a glimpse into the game, ultimately trying to fetch a purchase? In my opinion it failed. It doesn't look good and it doesn't make me want to buy the game.
maybe it wasn't aimed at you, then. "story" trailers are typically aimed at people who are already invested in the game and want to know the setting as opposed to the gameplay elements [editline]29th December 2012[/editline]
BROUGHT TO YOU BY, THE CREATORS OF DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.
fair enough
People saying the gameplay is like COD's need not jump the gun, I played it at Pax and it was nothing like a Call Of Duty Game It's like saying Doom is like Half Life
didn't you know CoD invented shooter games
So there's something I've realized that is sort of a reoccurring theme in sci-fi. Are you a Marine? Are you in space? Odds are you're dead meat.
BROUGHT TO YOU BY, THE CREATORS OF DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.
*the guys that bought the game in its current state, fixed bugs and finetuned it. then pushed it out
BROUGHT TO YOU BY, THE CREATORS OF DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.
No, 3DRealms made DNF. Gearbox released it.
Does it have regenerating health?
That's something that always confused me actually, Vasquez asks if LV-246 is another bug hunt, yet when they encounter the Xenomorphs, they don't know a thing about them. In this, they know what they are. How are these marines always falling for this?
Well, I always thought they referred to some sort of parasites in Aliens, actual bugs. Not Counting what has been established in Spin-offs, novels, Comic books, Sequels and all the other Crap. Any of the Alien universe that extends beyond the original two movies is just milking the franchise of a film that was more of an artistic statement and an exploration of the human psyche than OMG LOOK IT HAS ALINES AND MARINES WITH GUNS AND SHIT. Aliens offered a brilliantly written conclusion to the character development themes of the first movie, focusing mostly on the Ripley character, plus, it was a chance for Cameron to resolve the accusations of being a military obsessed fascist dickhead at the time with visual anti-war themes while also managing to be plain entertaining. The sequels were just slapped on and really insulting to the intelligence of the first two. That being said, I really liked the original Alien vs. Predator games because they captured the vibe of the Movies so well. The new one was kind of dumbed down so I've really been looking forward to this. I hope this is finally gonna have traditional shooter gameplay that is not mostly contextual scripted linear running through levels that are designed to shove as much visual shit in your face as possible, degrading the player to a moving camera in a less-than-generically written movie that has to click on stuff and reset every once in a while
I loved the marine campaign in AvP2. I actually felt scared.
No, 3DRealms made DNF. Gearbox released it.
Excuses, they slapped their name on it, they can take the rap for it. Happens with anything that's artistic AND makes money, the big movie companies smell the $$$ and milk that teat. Honestly, Alien is the most scary psychological horror film (subjective ofcourse). The whole film is about rape really, male rape in particular.
Excuses, they slapped their name on it, they can take the rap for it.
Gearbox also developed Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Brothers in Arms, and Borderlands. But no, since they released one bad game (a game they didn't even develop) they're shit. Great

Great
Workers within the company come and go. It's been well over 10 years since those games. (Borderlands, this is totally subjective and a opinion of mine but I think those two games are piss weak, played them both and they are such a grind. If I wanted to work on an excel spreadsheet buying, selling on a market, I'd go boot up Office Excel). You can't compare Epic Games of the last 5 years to the Epic Games of the 90's. Surely? I mean PC is basically an after thought now. I know there are exceptions, Valve at the moment but things do change you know. George Lucas also Directed and Wrote the first Star Wars film, then he went onto making the prequel films... we know how that turned out?

Since DNF was in the past. Also, why not wait until the game releases to pass judgement instead of brushing it off because "lol DNF". People have said in this thread that they played it and found it to be good.

My original post about Duke Nukem was merely to point out why other people might prematurely pass judgement because the reputation of that game and their name. Honestly, I reeeeeaaaally hope it's great.

Why do the graphics look like shit? I remember the earlier trailers looking better than this. Sure, it says nothing on gameplay, but it's kinda' underwhelming.
how the fuck does this look ANYTHING like CoD how are any of you fooled into thinkin Gearbox could fuck this up how does a 1 minute trailer made to show the story and not the gameplay at all indicate what the gameplay will be like? it's unbelievable how quick everyone here is to judge a game based on a trailer
The trailer is filled with modern military tropes, which could easily remind people of Call of Duty. Has nothing to do with the gameplay of course, but the story doesn't look all too fantastic :v: And Gearbox isn't infallible by any means, they aren't immune to making a bad game. I'm not saying this will be bad, that's retarded for I have no proof (hell I actually think it's gonna' be great), but that doesn't mean that the possibility of it being bad isn't there. Plenty of great developers have made shitty games before and we've forgiven them all for it.
BROUGHT TO YOU BY, THE CREATORS OF DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.
That game was long dead before it was even touched by Gearbox. They just served it on a platter and finally delivered.
