That OP is dangerously close to purple prose.
Would you, then, accuse the great poets of old of the same? Only because they were eloquent?
You'll probably get to fondle some boob at some point so hey, it's not all bad...
I wish I was religious, actually. The idea of transcending existence in such an already magnificent and awefull universe into something even greater is nothing if not ideal.
Would you, then, accuse the great poets of old of the same? Only because they were eloquent?
Not at all, you simply used words simply to sound eloquent, however replacing lugubrious with mournful would get the point across a lot easier. To be honest, it sounded overly artsy, hence why I called it purple prose.
this will cheer you up http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=987076
i go to space everyday what's wrong with you all
I'm not sure I understand what this is contributing to the discussion.
people in america dont care, people in new york want us to go back to jersey and i dont understand.
Well this made my day. Very interesting.
I find it a little bit ridiculous that everyone's solution to problems on this forum is "it's a stage" "I have cancer, I don't know what to do!" "you'll grow out of it" "My sister was ran over by a truck, comfort me." "everyone has their sister ran over by a truck at one point"
Lets put this in perspective. "Cancer" Happens to a bunch of people you arent special or unique. "Sister crapped on by truck" Shit happens everyday around the world, you arent special or unique So what can we conclude? Shit happens everywhere, you arent special, you arent unique, deal with life cause its all youve got and learn to stop bitching.

Metaphor is supposed to be tangible, something we understand at a primal sense. People don't understand why it made sense when Shakespeare wrote "My heart has turned to ice."--It simply did. I don't want to turn this into a writing argument, regardless.
Life is hard.
Life is hard.
life sucks
I should probably be grateful I was born, but wouldn't it be something to come into existence in a thriving future with FTL travel? One can dream!
We're at an awkward time in history, in fact the only eventful thing that will be noteworthy for our generation will probably be the war in Iraq and Afganistan. Personally, the times I'd love to visit include the age of Imperialism (1870s-1900) and the Roman Republic (and Empire under both Augustus and later Trajan.)
yeah man hahahaha
If, by that, you mean politically, then sure. However, to say technology hasn't taken enormous bounds forward in decades beforehand would be naive.

Death is inevitable. One thing is clear though, your journey will not there.
What do you mean by that?
I was born too late. Villages and city-states dotting the landscape, heading out to sea and having falling off the edge as a real concern, looking up at the sky and seeing the gods and goddesses looking back, smiling. Pristine forests, clean air, water, food. Sigh Yes, I realize the irony of saying this on the internet. And I'm also aware that life a thousand years ago was much harder than it is now. But I wouldn't have known the difference in the same way as I do now; having been born in an era where the world's history is available to me in minutes.
I know exactly what you mean man, I've always dreamed about living in the ancient greek times. Seems almost like living in a fairy tale.
If ancient accounts are anything to go by, it wasn't.
Be glad you weren't born a few centuries ago, when it was rare for people to see much aside from their own country or even area.
this will cheer you up http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=987076
I knew someone would post that. It's always a great mood lifter.
I'm glad I'm mortal. Sure I would love to see the end of the universe..the world..the birth of new worlds and to see ones yet unseen. But I do not care enough.
it is possible for people born in 1960 to be eventually immortal. With the rise of nanobots cryogenesis. People can extend life for ever. Be succesful in life save some money and if your lucky you'll never die. (its already possible to go into cryogennesis and unfreeze when it is possible to be augmented to be immortal, only it costs $60.000). Good luck on your road to immortality.
