That's it?! Come on I know you have something better than that. You have already suggested that. Come on be "Creative." Awe me, I want to be inspired.
definitely don't give up those are pretty awesome
Music is as universal as visual art. Some like it slow, some like it fast, different styles and such.
Even if your art was good, there still would be people who would dislike or even hate it.
Ultra Sensitive. 3v3rybody isn't going to give you any helpful advices because of your horrible selfish popularity whoring attitude.
You're trying to do art to become famous and recognized. If that is your goal then you really don't understand the meaning of expressing yourself and the meaning of art. Art isn't just some fancy easy way out to get some fame and money in your pocket, that's what pop artists, pop musicians, hollywood movie makers and what not do, they don't create art, they create commercial products intended to sell.
If you want to express yourself then you really should speak in the language only you know, because that is the language that is most beautiful. By sharing that language to others by just letting them hear it (see the drawings) many may ignore it, but a handful will also want to listen more to it and learn it. I'd really love to see more of your drawings and see you progress, but the way you act and how your personality seems to be that seems to be a lost case.
Unless you are intending to be a sell-out, a commercial product, the same shit we've heard and seen a billion times before then you have to realize that art isn't meant to make you rich, most real artists have jobs on the side to feed them and then live happily (or sorrowfully) by making art. Art is meant to make you feel better and/or worse, it is meant to evoke emotions inside you and you're meant to enjoy making it because you like making it, not because it will get you fame and fortune.
The reason I also mention that artists can also live in horrible states is because that is also an inspirational source for many. When they feel bad they want to create things and express their pain, and through that pain a lot of beautiful drawings and music can express itself.
Dgg nailed it.
yep
Thanks for your post dgg. I rely like your reply. I have never earn money drawing. I draw on my own from my own way and inspirations. I draw for fun. I'm not looking for fame or money. I want people to like my art. The people I know don't understand it. They have no artistic ability's of there own, so they don't understand what it takes to put effort into a drawing, or a song.
The only thing I have done to make money is to play shows. I play guitar about every day. I don't play to become rich and famous. You don't see me on TV or hear me on the radio. The most money I have made is about 200 bucks. 150 went to the sound guy, and the 50 went to gas and food for me to get to the show. So that left me about 15 bucks to get my drink on. The other times I play shows I'm usely just playing back ground noise for the people at the bar and only get tips. They help me pay for food, cigs, rent ect.
So you can say playing music is my job. Its one of the things I know how to do well. I can earn a little extra cash, and it's easy for me.
Their feelings > My feelings
Nobody cares :/

Yea I'm just going to work on my music. More entertaining and you can get recognized easier than art. You have to die before you even become famous.
You're definitely wanting some fame from your work. Fame is people liking your work. People don't get famous from being disliked. There are people out there that are asses and are famous, but they are famous for being asses because people like it that they are asses. Fame = people like the person/work/thing that is famous.
Of course to be defined as famous you need A LOT of people to like it, but it's still basically the same. If you're looking for a bunch of people to like what you are doing then your goal is to be trying to become famous. Whilst TV successes and such isn't what you immediately think of I'm pretty sure it's dwelling behind there and can possibly come out if you ever receive enough praise from the people you first of all want to like your work. I'm not saying it is unnatural to want to become famous and liked though, it is human nature at it's finest, but you really should focus more on liking what you do yourself than adjusting what you do into what others want you to do, because that's just not right. It can make you happy, but it can also make you THINK you are happy only to later on discover that you don't really like it that much because you are binding yourself to what other people want from you rather than from what you want yourself to do. In some cases it's a good thing to follow what others want, other times not, it should be balanced.
If you just want to draw and/or make music for fun then you just have to live with it if the people that are close to you don't understand what you are making. Maybe the place you live in just isn't right, the general population just doesn't fancy your way of expressing yourself, but that's what we have the internet for (or moving out). Conceptart is a good website to learn, inspire and share art with.
I also don't think you should get upset just because they don't understand how much work goes into making an artwork, because really, that's completely irrelevant and only egoistical to expect them to care about, the only reason it can ever be brought in is to discuss the price. A work you spent 30 minutes on will in most cases be cheaper than a work you spent 10 hours on, because that's natural.
But anything else, like receiving praise from it just because it took you a lot of work is dumb. The end result is what matters, no matter what. If you spent 10 hours on something and it looks worse than something you spent 1 hour on then you can talk as much as you want about the effort that was put into the 10 hour work, but it's irrelevant and doesn't matter because it doesn't look that good.
I can totally understand why you would sing for money of course, because everyone needs money to live, and after all, you are taking parts of your own free time to sit down and play for others. There is nothing wrong with selling music and selling art, as long as it's not the actual reason you do it for.
Oh and. Why can't you draw AND create music? A popular(ish) thing to do is to create a song/drawing and then create a drawing/song for it.
I see that most people are closed minded. They are very ego I. I have to say I am an asshole. Survival of the fittest. The more you push, the better you have a chance for people to respect you, or disrespect you. To be successful is to be at the top, even if you have to fight for that spot.
I see anything can be considered art. Its how you show what you are showing or selling that people will understand where you are coming from. On the other hand, if your art rely shows the passion you put into a piece, that may have more value to someone.
I know I have passion for what I do, no one can tell me I don't. Every one is a fucking critic. To hell with them if they don't like it. It's what I think its worth that matters to me.

Of course people are ego, why wouldn't they? Everyone else are just people that wander around in their world. You are your own superstar in your own world. The biggest reason we ever do ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING is to help ourselves. Whether it is to make us self feel better, look better, seem important, seem helpful, seem serious, whatever. We do everything for ourselves.
Survival of the fittest is a good thing to believe in as long as you also believe in it being wrong. As in, it doesn't always apply and shouldn't always be believed in, but usually it is a very good guideline to how things are.
Yes, your PASSION can show through your art. The work that was put into it, not really. What I mean with this is that no matter how HARD it was for you to make something then it won't matter at all. But how much you enjoyed making it and how much passion you put into making it, that will definitely show, it is probably the biggest factor that separates commercial works from artistic works, probably over creativity too, because there are a lot of creative people working in the commercial areas of "art".
It's good to hear that you've stopped (well, more like actually said what you mean rather than what you don't mean) caring about what people think. Do what you want, not what they want.
But again. Why can't you draw and make music? There is no need to restrict yourself to just one of the mediums.
ultra sensitive stop fishing for attention and recognition for your hard work. :colbert:
honestly reading your posts is depressing. its like you have no self confidence what so ever and are desperately seeking approval from other people.
I don't have a lot of time on my hands. I have kids to take care of (right now). I have to divide my time into what can benefit for me. Drawing is my thing I do on the side, but I don't put to much time into it.
There not my kids their my uncles. They can't afford daycare so I watch them while they work. they give me a place to stay amd some food to eat. I play music at night to get a little money because they cant pay me. And I chip in for the rent as well just to help out.
And as I said before, drawing just doesn't satisfy me as much as it used to.

Now that's what I like to hear. In-detail and explained reason for why you do something rather than saying it is because people don't like what you do.
You are free to go, everything you said makes sense and just makes me nod in agreement with your choices.
If making music does make you happier because you like it more, then just keep on doing it.
