Doctor Who was nice but could have been better. X Factor and House looks really nice. So did Lost.
Clearly you haven't seen a decent HDTV.
there's no difference
the limit is 1920x1080 - the same as a decent computer monitor
it's a fucking placebo
Nope, really. When I can see Louis Walsh hasn't shaved on one channel, but see a bare face on the other, I know HDTV is an improvement.
There's definitely a difference between HD and non-HD. I was watching Walking Dead that I'd recorded, accidentally went on the non-HD version, and it was like the screen was covered with grease compared to the HD version.
there's no difference
It's nothing to do with the screen size, it's to do with the size of the original source.
1080p has 5 times as much information per frame as a DVD.

no I was referring to the size of the screen having such an impact, not the resolution itself
the fact that 1080p is better quality than dvd is indisputable
So how do you argue that "it's a fucking placebo" ?
Yeah, you seem to have contradicted your own argument there Dainbramage
So how do you argue that "it's a fucking placebo" ?
a meant that given two displays, that both display the same resolution but are of differing physical sizes, saying one is better is just placebo. it was in reply to this statement in particular:
decent HDTV
Doctor Who thread - HD edition.
I meant a "Full HD" 1080p as opposed to a 720p HDTV
So how about that Doctor Who?
Doctor what now?
I meant a "Full HD" 1080p as opposed to a 720p HDTV
I do see a difference between 1080 and 720 because I'm quite close to my TV.
I got a dalek advent calendar :buddy:
Various people from the Doctor Who team are claiming episode 1 of series 6 is not only epic as it's a two parter and based within the states, but because the enemy is scarier than those old Weeping Angels

To quote Austin Powers; Margaret Thatcher naked on a cold day.
Fun fact though, monsters always seem terrifying in script form.

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan were on Radio 2 a couple of weeks ago talking about DW stuff, they said that they couldn't really talk much about the next series but that there was a new enemy that was their favourite villain by far, and they genuinely sounded excited about the whole thing :v:
Guessing that this is what they were talking about.
this is the problem with the doctor who fandom today:
