In regards to when the next season starts.
A new series is scheduled for broadcast in 2011; the first seven episodes will be broadcast in the spring and the final six in the autumn, with the mid-season finale being a "game changing cliffhanger".
I got the seasons' 10 and 11 sonic screwdrivers
for the last 5 years, it's started late March/Early April so that's a good indicator

0:57, definitely Slender Man.
As far as Christmas specials go, it was brilliant.
It was christmassy. I wouldn't compare it to actual episodes because it's a special not an episode.
Seems like an earth based series, no complaints here, we need to be grounded a bit. The Ood was cool.
I thought I'd combine those two Christmas traditions

What next? Fedoras?
Actually. That would be awesome, a 1930s mafia story. That would be amazing.

You could use a proxy to watch it on the iPlayer. That's what I did, and it worked perfectly.

Also I've seen you round evlbzlthyr, purely because your avatar is pretty boss.
Ugh. I probably shouln't be posting in this thread in the state I'm in.
So next series:
Vasta Nerada (The space suit), Ood, Future Doctor, Grey Aliens
Next series looks boss.
Are you sure that the trailer showed clips from the whole of the next series? For all we know that could be in the same episode - we know that there will be a virus that causes writing to appear on the skin, in America - factor in the greys, perhaps it all happens in America, in a roswell-esque episode?

So long as we forget that David Tennant CGI episode which was pants.
Dammit Facepunch, I watch the trailer for next seasons and all I can think of when seeing the figure at the end is Slenderman. :saddowns:
It's a possibility.
Also, I rather enjoyed the Christmas special, a truly awesome retelling of A Christmas Carol.
I thought the cracks were to do with the Pandorica or something, why would there be more?
Sort of. They were brought about by the elusive thing/being called The Silence which is the overruling story arc for next series (hence all the "Silence will fall" stuff at the last series finale).
Also, I think Moffat got the special perfect. Who cares if it's a little cheesy? It's sort of what he was aiming for - he explains in his article in the Radio Times if you had a read. It's Christmas after all. The balance was just right for me in any case.
Next series can't come soon enough, but those damn china dolls are going to be nightmare fuel.
Haha, I did a random check for "slenderman" on Twitter and seems we're not the only one connecting it to:

Did anybody else listen to that doctor who audio story read by Matt Smith set in the wild west? That was atrocious voice acting.

What am I looking at
snip, double post.
Better if it goes on the next page anyway.
I know it's aimed at kids as well but the first ten minutes of the episode has a bit too many "spelling it out for the audience". I think isomorphic controls have been in Doctor Who enough that people will either already know what it means, or just disregard is as technobabble and get on with watching the show. That's not the only example, I'm just saying.
Anyway, to people complaining about not being allowed to touch yourself from the past, you're acting as if Father's Day set that rule, even though it's probably happened before in the classic series (mainly episodes like the Five Doctors etc)
I'm not too fond of the Doctor rewriting someone's life to make them nice, it doesn't seem like something he'd do. Seems a bit morally questionable if you ask me. Other than that bit of nitpicking, I really liked the episode. One of the best Christmas specials.
