I think 2013 should have a focus on all the Doctors working together to stop the Meta-Crisis Tenth Doctor, I'd love to see Tennant turn his Doctor into a villain, then we get to see him literally come to blows with the other Doctors.

meh, I don't really like Meta-crisis Doctor as a plot device or a character
just felt like it was needlessly thrown in

that last line should be RTD's motto.

Which is why he should be used for something. It felt to me like he could have been much more useful.

but that would mean we'd have to see Rose. Again. I don't want 11 to ever meet Rose.

Well I liked Rose. And it doesn't necessarily mean that he has to. Maybe MC10 crosses over without her.
Though a fleeting moment near the end where he catches a glimpse of her would be pretty cool.

She was the worst companion ever. 11 is over the whiney lovey dovey bullshit now. The Moff doesn't like it either.
How come 11 is so confused about kissing? He's done plenty of it
maybe he forgot :v:
I've never watched Doctor Who, but it's become increasingly interesting to me after reading and watching things about it. If someone can answer a few questions for me that would be great.
1) If I start watching, what season would be a good place to start at? I know they just got a new lead but I am not sure if that means start with the most recent stuff or not. (If you say 1963 I'll be a sad panda)
2) Is there a place to stream or download these for free?(legally) I am an American so if not I'd be SOL since I do not have BBC
3) Any opinions or things I should know before watching? (not spoilerific ones)

Started writing out a reply, but then I realised that Dan'll answer those for you waaay better than I ever could.
Canon.
He was either having post traumatic regeneration issues confusing himself with Spock.
Didn't the reference it recently?

I can try to explain away every shit hole error in that movie

Doesn't tennant say in the donna noble finale event that there has "never been a half human doctor before" or something along those lines?
Doesn't tennant say in the donna noble finale event that there has "never been a half human doctor before" or something along those lines?
He says that there can't be a Human Time Lord, but I think that's because the Time Lord consciousness inside a Human body would make their brain burn up or something
But that's a good point, I didn't think of that

I can try to explain this away for you... whether I succeed is another thing entirely.
I think 11 figures himself to be a completely new person, with the memories he has from the previous doctors to be more like memories inherited from someone else entirely, not previous chapters in his own history. With his new sheepish personality when it comes to such relationships he has no idea how he's supposed to act. It's kind-of like he watched someone kissing on TV a bunch of times and remembers the technical aspect of it all but can't REALLY perform when the time comes (like an FPer getting laid).

TV tropes says no (not that it's credible mind you), and I remember that line from the finale... but I can't be assed to go look even though I have that season on DvD (it's in my car in the middle of a thunder storm).
By the way, I'm a MAJOR who-head... which is weird because I'm American.

For a Star Trek fan, kinda think of it like a Trill, the host merges with the symbiote personality and memories becoming a new person with the memories of all the previous hosts.
I thought it'd be like a completely different person, who's only memories of the previous incarnations are similar to as if they'd watched all their lives on TV and memorised what had happened, but not actually experienced it for themselves.
[editline]30th December 2010[/editline]
So they're sort of detached from what they did, but know what happened, sort of thing.

Like when he refered to the Time War as a "bad day."

It really depends on the doctor, Tennant never acted that way, Matt does.
Justshutupstoptalkingceaseanddesisttheresagoodgirl! Just had to say it.
I loved those episodes. The ending was really drawn out, though.

The Human Nature / Family of Blood two-parter?
Everyone seems to love them, but I only remember seeing them through once and not really paying that much attention... I need to rewatch them some time.

I hated those episodes. I really don't know why though. But I did like the ending and seeing the wrath of The Doctor, though.

I liked them... except for the scarecrow part. That was stupid.

I remember posting this wayyyyy back in like, page 58.
Here, they're shit quality and have Chinese subtitles, but whatever, it's the only thing I know that works and is free.
S1-3: http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do?lid=2424769
S4: http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do?lid=9087122 (The playlist here is a bit messed up, you'll have to jump about for the first 4 episodes or so)
S5 (Matt Smith): http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do?lid=8781716
Oh hey, never mind all those links, I just found one with the whole 5 series minus a few specials I think (in better quality too! (it's still kinda shit quality though)): http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do?lid=10713223

I watched the majority of S1 on this site before I got Netflix.

1) Start from the 2005 series, it's designed to bring in new viewers.
Series 1
Series 2
Series 3
Series 4
Specials Series
Series 5
It's important you don't miss Specials series. A lot of people do.
2) Other posters helped out here.
3) If I was you I would avoid opinions completely, and don't look anything up, let it be a complete surprise, best way to view TV. Don't even Google the show, you'll be hit by Spoiler city.
Also remember it's a family show, some episodes are silly, but they're charming in their own way.

I noticed how Tennants doctor always acted like his past adventures as other incarnations were still him, while Matt rarely brings them up, or doesn't discuss them long.
Tennant was such a nostalgia addict.

tennant's doctor was having a midlife crisis
See, my thing about Eleven not bringing up past adventures, I take it partially as detachment, but I also see it as a sort of coping mechanism because of how painful the last 950 or so years have been. I don't think he was shrugging off the Time War as a bad day, he just wanted to get off the subject. That scene was so awkward for that reason, and it's one of the reasons I really fell in love with Eleven as the Doctor as well as Smith's acting; it was brilliantly portrayed. He tried saying it was just a "bad day" but there was just this dead, sad look on his face; he still felt it, maybe even more than Ten, but he just didn't want to talk about it. He just wants to move on and live in the moment; his lack of planning sort of plays into that as well. That's just how I took it.
