The more times I've seen "The Beast Below" episode, the more it frustrates me. Continuity is just awful. When the Doctor and Amy land in the Star Whale's mouth, they look towards the jaws and can see teeth and the mouth beyond - but the Whale's head is in space, surely? Also, at the start, obviously no Star Whale can be seen and the head must be inside the ship. At the end, the Star Whale's body is a hellova lot longer than the ship, but at the beginning, you couldn't see it at all. Also, at the end of the episode when Amy draws comparisons with the Doctor and the Star Whale, she notes they're both "very old and very kind". The Doctor never told her how old he was at that point. As far as she was concerned, he could have just been in his thirties... It's always niggled at me, and spoiled the episode somewhat. Maybe I've just overlooked bits. Any help, anyone?
She does know that he is a really old because in episode one the Atraxi pull up a record of the Doctor and show multiple stages of his regenerations and therefore allowing it to be worked out. Although the continuity with the Star Whale is pretty awful.
The next word is kinda the scary word. You probably want to take a moment, get yourself in a calm place... go OMMMMMM. It's a... Tongue. [editline]0[/editline] We're in a mouth... Yes, but on the plus side... Roomy
It was fine up until they tried to open the door to get out. Then the stupid Smilers came at them, and the Queen appeared, and so on and so forth... Bloody stupid :saddowns:
-snip- for clocks
I think I saw that already in the LMAO thread. laaaaate
Ah, I don't go there anymore. Too many reposts and shitposts.
I only go there through force of habit, I barely even laugh any more :saddowns:
All of you talking about bad continuity with the star whale: At the ending there's cracks where the lower shell obviously fell off when they pressed Abidcate. Evidently showing that the star whale was trapped inside the shell before it being removed.
That makes sense, but it wouldn't be obvious to a casual viewer. They should have shown parts of it breaking away or something after she pressed the "abdicate" button (not "abidcate", Comrade.)
Beast Below was the worst episode of series 5. Not a very good choice for an episode right after the great first one.
personally i think this is the silence:
Oh god, that'd be horrible
Each time I think about Comrade General or Test Card F or what ever he calls himself, I feel guilty for liking the War of the Worlds. I use to listen to the record my Mum and Dad had of it all the time.

On the plus side, I had a lecture today about the guidelines in television programming and we watched clips from The Empty Child and Blink about how Steven Moffat likes to scare children :v: Of course the whole point of the lecture was to see whether episodes like that should be broadcast after the watershed.
Doctor Who Lego(ish) characters. I want a Cyberman one, they're adorable: http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/lego-doctor-who-almost-14728.htm
Sounds like a pretty good lecture :v: And the Cyberman lego thing looks like the best one there
I think the Angel one looks best
The angel one looks like it's turned to stone halfway through laughing at something.
I once had an English teacher that wrote Doctor Who fanfiction. I think he also made a low-budget Doctor Who short film starring the class. That was 2 years before I went to this school though :smith:
I was watching The Beast Below after reading all the stuff you guys were saying about it and I noticed a little error, nothing huge but still. Look at the smiler, he's on his angriest face, but in the part right after this it's head turns from the frown to the angry face. I'd get an image of that too but it's not really much proof, watch it yourself and you will see.

As for the short film thing, I've been talking to a friend about buying one of the series script-booked and re-enacting some of the scenes during the summer, just for the hell of it. Might be fun. Give Youtube some more nutters to laugh about in any case.
That'd be cool :v:
The two re-enact a scene from an upcoming multi-doctor story. You can tell it's Doctor Who because Karen is doing her ":O" face and Tennant is gurnining. Wait, they do that all the time anyway? /GeekyBitchFest Before you ask, yes, a big picture was necessary.
Karen Gillan
The two re-enact a scene from an upcoming multi-doctor story.
elaborate?
