How about we're having fun making them up
I'd like to see a well-done Doctor Who side scroller. It would have to been done well, maybe like Braid - minimum to no speech, epic music, challenging puzzles.
Probably been asked before any news on the Christmas special?
Just boring casting news, expect nothing till late November.
Silly Christmas specials.
Got a whole set of the more recent specials just today though.
Also, Lego Doctor Who would work, as the Doctor would basically be like a R2-D2/Force user Character with his sonic screwdriver.
Not overly sure about the force though.
Also, I'd pay for Docman.
While unsure about Doctor Who due to that it's a family show, I would love to see a Torchwood game. Guns, gore, violence, aliens and maybe even Daleks. That way it's all the good things in Doctor Who (save the Doctor and the Tardis) and with no restrictions because it's based on an adult TV Series.
I hate this idea that a Doctor Who game wouldn't be able to have action of any kind because The Doctor doesn't use weapons. The simple solution is to not base it around playing The Doctor. Star Wars has basically the same demographic playing it's games so it shouldn't be a problem.
I honestly thing an RTS would work fine with Humanity, Cybermen, Sontarans, Judoon, Silurians, Timelords and Nestene. With NPC factions of Daleks, Angels, The Master(race?), Slitheen and Atraxi.
Each team could have heroes too:
Humanity - Captain Jack, Rory with gun arm, and The Brigidier
Cybemen - Cyberleader, Lumic and Cyberking.
Sontarans - Lynx, General Staal and Commander Kaagh
Judoon - God knows
Silurians - Those two main females from the recent episodes, One of the original Silurians, Silurian Leader
Timelords - Rassilon, Omega, Borusa
Nestene - Can make up to 3 plastic version of one of the enemies heroes to sneak around.
The game could focus some of the greatest battles in Doctor Who history, ones mentioned and some made up. And a skirshmish mode. A map design mode would be great too with the possibility of a 'Space Battle' mode where Daleks can be playable. Each hero could have unique abilities to bring to the battlefield. Some passive. You could even have a game mode called "Doctor" where you play as an enemy race or The Doctor and the enemy have to find and destroy The Doctor, a multiplayer game mode really.
Maybe I'm just being silly due to all the time I spent on Battle For Middle Earth and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds when I was younger.
Both of those games were fantastic.
If he's a doctor, why doesn't he fly around in a time travelling ambulance?
I'm sorry, that was terrible.

Indeed.
I had 2 Star Wars RTS games and one of them was basically Age of Empires 2 in every way. Ah the good old days.
As a Doctor Who Thread we should add eachother on Steam and play something together some time. I haven't played No Mercy on L4D2 yet. We could all be doctors
Ohohohoho
Heh, sure go ahead and add me. I recently reinstalled Left 4 Dead 2 and would definitely be up for playing some Galactic Battlegrounds.
Ah I traded that in to buy Empire at War years ago.
Still got Battle For Middle Earth 1 and 2 with the expansions kicking about.
Could be fun. Make Doctor Who Thread Gaming Nights when Facepunch starts working again.

Added, I am Carrot Man. Don't ask, I wanted to change it but the people on servers stopped recognising me.

If you played as the different races, it would still have to have the doctor somewhere in the game. perhaps as a special leader unit. I can't see everyone being happy with a DW game without a doctor at all in it.
The Doctor could be the Humans' superweapon. Call in the TARDIS on the map and the Doctor disables everything in a radius permanently.

Sounds quite similar to Command and Conquer. I guess it makes sense, looking at your avatar.
Although probably make the Doctor's "Lockdown" power temporary, yet still with a long duration, for the sake of balance.

offtopic, but I just found that game while rooting around in the loft
never played it before, should I install it?
I'm going to Dr Who Live tonight. :D

I think it'd work better if the Doctor had a bunch of different moves; sometimes he could lockdown everything, but other times he could do something different, like cause an explosion, or drop down a shield, or disrupt communications for the other side so that there's a lag between giving orders and having the units carry them out, or whatever - so that it seems like there's actually a mini DW episode going on down there every time the Doctor is used.
Episode 1 and 2 of Series 5 are both set in the US

We can assume Episode 1 and 2 will be a 2 parter.

I hate US-ified episodes.
Daleks of Manhattan was rubbish.

Daleks of Manhatten wasn't written by Steven Moffat.
Nor was it actually filmed in America. None of the acting was anyway.
