I just watched the new Sarah Jane Adventures episode, Matt Smith makes a better first impression in the first half than David Tennant did in the first half of the "SJ gets married" story. He actually has some good dialogue rather than just shouting "STOP THIS WEDDINGGG" and "NOOO" a lot. Yeah, I watched the marriage two-parter afterwards. Yay.
How have I only just noticed this thread?! I'm actually pretty impressed with the SJA "Death of the Doctor" episodes. It's so much better than the normal SJA, although the series hasn't been /bad/ so far, but this double has a much better plot and depth and, of course, it has the Doctor. Shame about the rather awful costuming/puppetry, but meh, that's what Doctor Who used to be all about!
i'm watching SJA right now. Why are the kids so upset, they met him like.. once? EDIT: cool episode. you can tell it's a kids show. The Doctor :h:
I decided to rewatch the first SJA episode... And I'm almost ashamed to say that I liked it :ohdear:
Matt Smith is tall. And still awesome. And tanned?
I can't watch SJA in America so can anyone tell me in spoiler tags what happened?
Haha i'm 6th, with the big boys! Not posted on here for a while, will be watching SJA tonight!
I'm just gonna watch the episodes on iPlayer, since my sister hogs the TV most of the time :colbert:
I watch it on iPlayer so nobody knows I'm watching it. Even though I know my mum liked Jo Grant, one of the very few companions she does like.
Well they solved the regeneration thing Clyde: How many times can you change? Doctor: 507
What the actual fuck... Way to totally screw up history, I knew they were going to change it but I was hoping for at least some sort of REASON why.. I'm hoping he just said that to shut Clide up.
RTD's shitty writing shines through again. They should just cut off his writing hand, goddamn. He HAD to bring Ten up again, didn't he?
Just started watching part two now on iPlayer.

I thought it was kinda cool. Although the ending was a bit meh, the whole [sp]think about loads of memories and the machine breaks[/sp] thing seemed, if not clichéd, then a bit basic. Then again, if you look at it and remind yourself that it really is just a kid's show, then I guess that it was kinda cool.

It's the entire basis of The Masters character and part of the story that led into the Fourth Doctors regeneration. Also it caused one of his companions to join him. Heck it's the basis of Rassilon too. But it all boils down to the immortal words of River: "He lies" The Eleventh Doctor is a liar.
Either way the Eleventh Doctor has kinda been screwed over. Either he's a big ol' liar, which makes him less of a hero and a bit of an unlikeable git, which sucks, or Davies and Moffat have been messing with the history, which also sucks.
It's harmless stuff. It's good to have a few flaws
Being untrustworthy is probably the worst flaw you could give to the Doctor though :ohdear:
It was just a throwaway comment. Wouldn't you fob off a kid with some story if they were right in your face whilst you were distracted by the danger that not only yourself, but your old companions were in? At least, I hope it was only a throwaway comment. There are other ways to gain regenerations, like how the Master did, but *shrug*. I trust Moffat, he's a good writer, even if he's going to have to clean up RTD's mess now xD
the doctor lied because he doesn't want to come to terms with the fact that he only has a few lives left
For all we know, the Timelords could have given high valued Timelord warriors extra regenerations in the Time War.
It's probably more likely that he just said "507" as a random number, he wasn't going to go through the whole "Well, Time Lords have a certain number of regenerations, generally the same number but it's possible to obtain more through special circumstances yadda yadda yadda" to Clyde while they were rushing through an air vent.
Don't take it seriously, not even RTD would agree with that
Taking it semi-seriously is part of the fun :colbert:
Just watched the episode. Loved it to bits. Not going to list what I loved, would take so long, so here's what I didn't love: - Santiagos dad is on a gay-dad-trek. What? What was the point of that comment? A "My dad is trekking across Antartica" or "My dad is doing X activity". But the gay-dad comment threw me. It seemed like a throwaway comment, why would gay men need to hike Antartica? It's not like gay men are oppressed. - On the gay note, the director decided to lez-up the UNIT girl. When she was talking to Sarah her arms and body language were really odd, it was like some deep lesbian moment. The entire moment was just akward, why would she get that close in that position? That's what the sexy nazi does in Indianna Jones to Indiana Jones. Not what a female UNIT soldier does to SARAH JANE in a kids programme. It seemed pointless artistically. It's not because it was gay, I have no problem with that, kinda hot, but sexual tension in general. - This is once again on the gay note, ha. But not a gripe, more of a childish light hearted observation. When they opened the casket and Sarah and Jo are in each-others arms. It was like they had just been caught doing the dirty, millions of fanboys have waited for that since the 70's. Days before Rule 34. - Clyde, Luke and Rani. Harsh observation but why do the kids always seem to act half their age? I know it's a kids programme but with a character who thinks and talks as fast as the eleventh Doctor, and themes and issues as harsh as accepting death, you would think they could have toned it down a bit. Santiago wasn't so bad. - One thing I REALLY loved was the soppy emotional bit between The Doctor and Jo. Matt came across like a reassuring father while Jo came across as an excited school girl. Great acting. Really brilliant. People noticed the lack of emotion in the last series, and while I don't want it every episode, slow moments where characters just talk what's on their mind will be nice. Series 5 was my favourite series but it always seemed to be a rush. The moment where The Doctor explains he has a married couple on The TARDIS was sad, and when Jo mentioned the Timelords and The Doctor downplayed it was also sweet. That RTD, always touching on themes of abandonement, homosexuality in society and timelords. Quite the fetish. I also loved the companion explanations at the end. I really liked it and I'm ashamed to say I liked the look of next time too. When Rani said "Last two people on the planet, what are we to do?" I know I would have brought up the obvious problem that at some point we're going to have to look into re-population and suggest a head start. Two teenagers who spend a lot of time close and personal, she laughs at all his jokes and finds him OH-SO-ADORABLE. Gagging for it. Real teenagers would go at it like dogs. And then dress up in novelty outfits and go joyriding with loud pop music.

Pity most of that probably went over kids' heads.
I did like the look of the next episode, but I was kind of put off the series when I saw the Nightmare Man episode, good god it was horrible. I may give it another chance to sway me. Also, the silence after Rani mentioned being the last two people on the planet made it pretty clear what Clyde was thinking :v:
I hate Lukes acting, so it's nice now.
