Why would a political union and common foreign policy destroy culture? And as the other guy said, the Schengen agreement pretty much removed all borders. Did all the cultures get destroyed? Nope. Besides, even the strongest Pro-EU person isn't arguing for a single 'country' per-say, they argue for a federation, where each state still has a degree of autonomy. Think Scotland in the UK.
There was Africa, some people from Africa gone to Europe, then some people from Europe gone to America, killed the true Americans, and bitch about Europe is fags.
Don't know why he's been rated dumb, he's completely right :v:.
True, but these things always act as a precedent and it would likely not stop at a federation.
Did in the USA...

Haha, i've been on a simmilar thread on an academic forum, the results are fairly different.

Europe is not devoid enough of culture to warrant being a single country in itself.
Why does almost anybody from any fucking nation cling so desperately to their culture? I would gladly completely forget my own if I could have a world filled with tolerance and cooperation. Not saying a unified Europe would bring peace, love, happiness, free blowjobs, etc. for everybody, but it could potentially be an awesome step towards that.
Did in the USA...
"I'm going to the country of Delaware on holiday"
"I'm going to the country of Delaware on holiday"
That's not what i'm saying. I'm saying that say, Georgia and California aren't culturally identical. They can even have different laws.
That's not what i'm saying. I'm saying that say, Georgia and California aren't culturally identical. They can even have different laws.
yeah, each state has it's own congress, remember?
I hope they don't do this! Different countries in Europe have different cultures where different laws apply and affect this culture. By governing a whole set of countries with one rulebook will be taking away this element, sometimes even criminalizing inoocent people with some stupid bi-law. I think countries should be left to run themselves with the occupants voting on their leader, a leader who knows the country, not someone sat in an office 2000 miles away who doesn't even speak the language! This is an attempt to control and monitor everyone in the world, I hate what its becomming. There will be NO privacy left in this world in another 50 years time.

This is not "monitoring" people. This is about the creation of the European Federation. A United States of Europe wouldn't have to be exactly like the US model, it could be given more freedom to every individual state. However it is right, there would be some federal rules which would be applied. And hey, there would still be state-individual congresses which would make laws for their own state. And about the language thing, most europeans (young) speak English. Why not just make it a federal law to make it mandatory to learn english no matter what?
Never gonna happen. The EU is just a scam to charge american tourists to visit historical landmarks.
the world is too scared of a european superpower
the world is too scared of a european superpower
Why? It's not like we would turn into the US and beginning making problem for everybody else.
its copyrighted! ogod I hope they force everybody to speak English. [editline]03:49AM[/editline]
Why? It's not like we would turn into the US and beginning making problem for everybody else.
problems* you already are making problems.
Why? It's not like we would turn into the US and beginning making problem for everybody else.
That's exactly what "we" would, we're already rivaling the US as it is.
the world is too scared of a european superpower
The world isn't, the current superpowers are (especially the U.S. which has been loosing the grip on Europe very quickly).
The world isn't, the current superpowers are (especially the U.S. which has been loosing the grip on Europe very quickly).
Always sucks when ones client states suddenly get a mind of it's own.
Earth must unite against the aliens.
The EU is an undemocratic communist superstate. Ireland voted "No" to the Lisbon treaty but that answer wasn't good enough so they had to vote again until they voted "yes". All governments are corrupt, so the smaller the area they rule over, the better. The end goal of all this is "a global new world order". A marxist global superstate where the western countries pay global warming taxes to the UN to "offset" the poverty in poorer countries. The standard of living in the west will decline, while the standard of living in the east will REMAIN THE SAME and the bankers will foreclose all our land, food, everything and take complete control of infrastructure, power, food, medicine, everything. Proper communist style. Whether you believe in "theories" or not, it is simply fact.
Whether you believe in "theories" or not, it is simply fact.
No, it is not, it is a theory, a conspiracy theory. Go masturbate to a picture of Alex Jones.

Sorry, it's not simply fact because you say it is bud, it's simply bollocks. I'm missing the part where the EU forced them to vote yes here.

Also, the EU is wideley seen as the most capitalist political block. And it has free and fair elections. Hell, you haven't read anything on the subject have you? Do you even know what communism is? Bankers and communism don't go hand in hand. But well done somehow mixing all the media hate figures into one big mess. Also, no, the EU is not as powerful as the US. It is as powerful as the US in its immediate region, but doesn't have nearly the same global reach.
European superstate wouldn't be bad. But it'll always feel like it exists out of separate countries because of the differences in culture and language.
Europen Union? More like Egoists United
