Those lucky guys.. Oh well. At least we saw lift off and space.
That was a shitload of foam and ice falling from the tank. But at least it was a success. Watched it all day today
I saw it also on the NASA channel when they did the separation. But the tanks made of Styrofoam so I wouldn't worry about it
Thank god.
Guys they're replaying the launch right now!
Were there people inside flying it? Stupid question I know but it could be all computerized, I dunno :p
Were there people inside flying it? Stupid question I know but it could be all computerized, I dunno :p
Because someone gotta do work inside and outside the shuttle and ISS that machines can't do? They don't fly up there just to fly up there.
Shuttle should be linking up with ISS on Friday, don't know if there's a video feed of that happening though. For those who like this kind of stuff and have time to learn during the summer, check out this space flight simulator: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/ Steep learning curve, you won't be able to fly the shuttle successfully straight away but that's the least of your concerns...You practice with this delta-glider experimental space craft which is easy enough to fly (you can successfully fly to the moon with it after one week of practice, probably less if you grasp the concepts properly). Here's the forum link too: http://orbiter-forum.com/ And a pdf guide which is REALLY helpful for newbies (from configuring the simulator to flying to Mars): http://www.aovi93.dsl.pipex.com/play_in_space.htm
Well they reach the ISS on friday where they will finish kibo! :D so exciting!
I can usually see it from my backyard, but it was too cloudy. :saddowns:

Flawless launch, worth the wait.
Was in Florida. Didn't hear it or see it. I call shenanigans.
I watched it.
About freakin' time. All I can say. Finally they can get to work.

I bet its the most viewers they have had after you made the thread.

I went on Sunday to see it live at Kennedy, but it got fucking scrubbed, then it did for the next 2 days. I waited 5 hours in the heat for nothing :(
I can't wait, me, my brother, his wife, and my girlfriend are all going to Cape Canaveral on September 16, 2010 to watch STS-134 (Discovery), the final launch and the end of the Space Shuttle Program

I always miss these things. No-one ever tells me until like 5 days after.

I'm only a little bit north of Charleston, SC so it isn't too much of a drive for us. I think I'll market this to my parents as the one crazy out-of-the-way once-in-a-lifetime thing that I have to see.
