I was getting really excited about the trailer, when it showed a pretty immersive set of alien disaster scenes and I thought it would be like a real refreshing alien disaster movie
but then glados's voice came up, and the rest of it was actually kind of a turn off to me. it became like mechabots vs alien godzillas or whatever, and it just hit a lot of silly gi-joe vibes for me

Well, it will certainly be very fun to stare at, but it would probably not be the best idea to expect the next Shakesperian play from this movie. I also think that they could have definitely picked a voice better than glados. In such enormous machines, you expect something more similar to the Black Mesa's announcer.
Are you guys seriously surprised that a movie about giant mechs fighting giant monsters will not be a literary master piece and will include Mechs fighting monsters?
I'm surprised only one person recognised the similarities between this and Evangelion.
Jax and Glados? Shits gunna be good.

Make that two, sonny Jim. To me this seems a lot like Godzilla meets Evangelion, but with less teenage pilots and Angels, instead having more Cthulhutech. I mean, there's got to be at least one betentacled kaiju in this movie; hell I'd even accept Cthulhu as the final boss.

It's supposed to be mechs vs monsters. They've not once said it was anything different.

Giant monsters + robot suits controlled by people in strange suits has Evangelion written all over it.
Episode 3 arg too obvious 0/10
Gordon Freeman at 0:15
GlaDOS' voice
Underground government facility
Three robots shown being lowered into the sea
Come on Valve are you even trying?
I'm gonna watch it for the Rocket-Fist
This is what all that testing by GLaDOS was for. Now the right time has come!
Trailer was cool until giant robots. Martin Cyber King wasnt necessary either.
This movie contains alot of things I love, cross-dimensional portals, aliens and giant fucking robots that are controlled by man.
It's Del Toro.
I'm psyched for sure. He's one of my favorite directors.
First few seconds I thought this was going to be Cloverfield 2.
Then I was sorely disappointed by robots and bzzzzrrrt.
Science-Fiction masterpiece I hope.
Supreme Commander Vs. Godzilla: The Movie.
I like it.
Coming from someone who knows nothing about this movie until this trailer, It really doesn't look that good at all, The setting is kind of cool, Always loved the idea of monsters from the ocean, But it really is giving me vibes of a lot of these "man will rise up and defeat the bad guys/aliens" that has featured in so many mediocre movies recently. I mean the whole "lets go fishing" and then what probably was a fist bump between giant robots. I kept imagining "rockem sockem robots time" playing over and over in my head.
And i know Guillermo del Toro is a good director, i loved pans labyrinth. But that doesn't stop the chances of this movie being very average. Look at Ridley Scott, he has some incredible movies, and then there's robin hood, which was a very very average movie.
I know this is all opinions, But to me the movie looks like it could be terrible, But trailers have been deceived me in the past (Drive), so I'm just going to wait and not get to exited about this until its released.

oh come on it's japanese mecha vs kaijus, of course it's going to be cliché and cheesy, who wants a downer ending in a film like this anyway
I'm surprised only one person recognised the similarities between this and Evangelion.
I find more similarities with HL2 - aliens from portals? Hoping to take us over without much of a war? GladOS?
good thing i'm an outsider in the anime business so i find this more similar to something i'd call Godzilla VS Robomaster instead of Evangelion
My Avatar. :D
GlaDOS is supposed to be cynical, if this movie puts her voice in the wrong light then it's a 0/10, if not then it could be good.

Well if its goal is to be cheesy then I'm all for it, don't get me wrong, I love me some action movies that are fun to watch, It just seems that everyone thinks the film is going to be extraordinary. I mean good as in a good film, not as in a good action film, which can be bad yet good at he same time. Like commando for example.
But yeah, opinions and all. I don't mean to tell people what to think, i just have my doubts about it being very good.

Yes. GLaDOS is suppose to be. Who knows what they call that robotic voice that is similar to GLaDOS?
GlaDOS is supposed to be cynical
I agree, GLaDOS' voice worked in Portal because she was conversational. She read dialogue (Hello and welcome...), provided witty sayings, and then eventually became a main character villain with speeches and such.
AFAIK, this robot voice is just there to say "Initiating launch operation" and stuff like that. The high-pitched GLaDOS voice is especially jarring because it's much more suited to full sentences rather than short status updates.

It's an homage to the Godzilla type film and giant mechs fighting them.
So yeah it's clearly going to be intentionally cheesy.
This movie looks like a giant CGI fest with no story. The eye candy is great, but the story it proposes in the trailer looks pretty fucking dumb.
Poor F-22
Also movie looks sort of bad to be honest... Sick of these super special FX movies with nothing else to back them up
The voice over guy is the main character in Sons of Anarchy I believe.
It looks like R.A.D. to me. Really fun PS2 game.

We've been long overdue for a giant robots and aliens fighting movie. Too many movies nowadays that are one man armies, shitty comedies and generic horror movies.
