I can't imagine that picture was taken in 1996. Maybe published then? If you have a pool at your house, leave the filters off and it unattended for two weeks, it'll look dirtier than that.
Actually, I heard that Pripyat's buildings were maintained for some years after the blast by the government, because they hoped the town could be inhabited again.
I love this show, its probably one of the only non-fail shows on the educational networks that I get now. Now its all Larry the cable guy, ax men, ice road truckers, nothing to do with education, just promotion of ignorance to go into a job full of manual labor.
