the sea sheppard is full of hippies, especially the one guy who doesnt believe in computers/radar etc Also, what is throwing tear gas at a boat going to do when the crew is inside the bridge?
Buteric acid. smells like shit apperantly.
They throw some kind of acid that's supposed to ruin the whale carcass, and they also throw flour to make the deck slippery. Except the Japanese have nets all around the boat that pretty much stops all their attacks.

Haha I thought it was on Discovery channel, guess I assumed wrong, when I saw this show on elk or something I was like, wtf?
Personally if these Sea Shepard idiots started attacking my ship I'd fight back too...and I think in a ad once on TV I saw them tossing acid bombs or some shit at the ship...no shit there gonna fight back and resist, you idiots
Why are the Japanese so obsessed with whaling>?
From what I've read they don't seem to eat it as much as the mercury content in whales and dolphins (they get them too) are too high for human consumption. They still do end up in meat markets, however. I remember when I was watching some stuff related to The Cove documentary, they supposidly hunt down dolphins and whales in a pest-control manner in order to have less competition for seafood. It's illegal to catch and kill whales for food and other commercial reasons (oil), but the Japanese get around that by claiming it's for "scientific" purposes. Though somehow they need this many whales for what ever "scientific" reasons they want them for. There's been various attempts by groups to stop this, but the Japanese continue doing so. They haven't really been concerned with coming to the table and talking, so groups have resorted to this. All the while the Japanese are pointing out how cruel Westerners tend to be to wildlife and nature. Hypocrisy is human nature.

For a bunch of environmentalists, they are pretty bad ass
Pretty funny and intense show. [editline]09:44AM[/editline]
For a bunch of environmentalists, they are pretty bad ass
True.
the sea sheppard is full of hippies, especially the one guy who doesnt believe in computers/radar etc Also, what is throwing tear gas at a boat going to do when the crew is inside the bridge?
They throw buteric acid which smells horrendous and stops the Japanese from working in the affected area. In other words, they are unable to continue whaling. [editline]06:47PM[/editline]
Personally if these Sea Shepard idiots started attacking my ship I'd fight back too...and I think in a ad once on TV I saw them tossing acid bombs or some shit at the ship...no shit there gonna fight back and resist, you idiots
"Acid bomb" sounds a lot worse than what it really is. And the Japanese do fight back, with water cannons, nets, and nuts and bolts. [editline]06:48PM[/editline]
Except the Japanese have nets all around the boat that pretty much stops all their attacks.
They only have the nets at the center, the harpoon deck and harvesting port is still exposed. [editline]06:49PM[/editline]
Bunch of dumb eco-hippies that have no idea how to run a boat endanger the lives of numerous japanese whalers while they ineffectually try to save some worthless whales. Although what the Japanese whalers are doing may be wrong it is not illegal. They hunt the whales under the pretense that they are doing scientific research. I know it's a dumb loophole but that doesn't mean these dumbshit hippies can go around ramming whaling boats and endangering HUMAN LIVES to save whales.
They don't ram whaling boats, they are not endangering human lives one bit.
The Japanese film the "attacks" and put it on one of their sites. It's kinda cool to see it from their perspective. At above, they have rammed one of the harpoon boats once, fucked up its railing. My mistake. They ram them next episode because Captain Watson is pissed for them killing the whales in front of them.
I think the show is quite entertaining, But the crew of the Sea Shepherd annoy the hell out of me.
This makes me lose faith in the human race, we care about nothing other then ourselves. We have to hunt and destroy everything on the planet, even if it is intelligent. Why can't the japanese eat regular meats instead of whale?

They hunt it because it is highly desired. Oh, and whales aren't "intelligent."

Well I am no expert but I read somewhere that they are... Regardless we seem to have respect for nothing on this planet.
That's a pretty standard reason to lose faith in humanity, I don't see what's wrong with it.
No, a good reason to lose faith in humanity is something like a woman from Louisiana asking the U.S. government not to sign the Louisiana Purchase 200 years after it happened.
No, a good reason to lose faith in humanity is something like a woman from Louisiana asking the U.S. government not to sign the Louisiana Purchase 200 years after it happened.
That's a horrible reason, one stupid human does not represent the entire race. Ever heard of natural selection?
That's a horrible reason, one stupid human does not represent the entire race. Ever heard of natural selection?
And one country does not represent the entirety of the human race either. Hunting and eating whales is a very well-established part of Japanese culture. They are not going over the quota that was established on whale-hunting.
And one country does not represent the entirety of the human race either. Hunting and eating whales is a very well-established part of Japanese culture. It is fun to watch the hippies get blasted with water cannons. :fuckyou:
A country is a very large group of people, it can represent the human race fairly well or at least a good percentage of it.
You're an idiot, Japan only represents its own culture. Besides, Japan's population: 128 million. World Population: ~6.5 billion. Not a representative combined with Japan's cultural differences from the rest of the world.
"Acid bomb" sounds a lot worse than what it really is. And the Japanese do fight back, with water cannons, nets, and nuts and bolts.
Well it is a an acid bomb is it not? And like I said...I would fight back and I know they do and I think they do it rightfully
Well it is a an acid bomb is it not? And like I said...I would fight back and I know they do and I think they do it rightfully
They throw buteric acid, which isn't the "melt your face and destroy your ship's hull" kind of acid. It just makes the deck of the ship smell so bad that they can't harvest whales in the conditions.
Dumb Sea Sheperds. Why dont the Japs take them prisoner?
A+ post. Explained sensibly and without bias. Seems like a good show, 'cept I don't watch that much t.v. anymore.
They throw buteric acid, which isn't the "melt your face and destroy your ship's hull" kind of acid. Until this is illegal these fucking sea Shepard idiots should fuck off
You're an idiot, Japan only represents its own culture. Besides, Japan's population: 128 million. World Population: ~6.5 billion. Not a representative combined with Japan's cultural differences from the rest of the world.
Last time I checked, japanese people were still human, culture does have an effect on the mind however they will never stop being human in nature. Also 128 million is a large number, are you saying out of 128 million not one of them thinks similarly to anyone else in the world? :engleft: Let's call people idiots when we disagree because we can't think of anything else to say. Maybe then they will feel dominated and not reply.
