Imo those electronicateds german V8's sounds really bad if you compare it to a "classic" V8 ( well the audi sounds more like a electronicated V10 but I can't really tell, damn plastic covers )

All of those are from enormous blocks because I can't find high quality one for others, but they all sound great. Especially the 289 block of the 65-66 'stangs when you hear it, for real (imo again )

Those engines are raw, completely unrefined power. The R8 engine sings, whereas these just bellow. It's awesome bellowing, don't get me wrong, but it's not the same.

Comparing them to the R8 engine is like comparing a hammer and a scalpel.

Went to Scotsdale Arizona recently to visit my uncle. People there are fucking RICH, saw Porsches/Audi's/BMW's/Mercedes EVERYWHERE

We're walking around for a bit, and I see a few lamborghinis out so I have to take a peek. Sitting behind a few other lambos and roped off is a fucking [I]Aventador[/I]

AND THE DAMN THING WAS SOLD. Aventador and Audi R8 are the two sexiest cars out there right now in my opinion. And seeing the Aventador in person made me legs weak in awe

this post is too long but I'm going to say this anyways: those V8 engines remind me more of the roar of WW2 fighters, not a highly refined driving machine. They're great, but the R8 is in its own category

Have you heard any of those engines for real ? Because if your reference are those bad quality videos , this sure is a bellow. But in real, you don't have all this sh!tty saturation. In fact the growl is almost the same if you compare, at mid-rpm , two same blocks but one is fuel-injected with a pile of wires, the other one is fed with a raw carb. What make it sound really different is the exhaust and the order of ignition. This is why a recent V8 muscle car ( 4.6l/5.0l/6.2l suprchrgd Stang, 6.2l Camaro, Challenger... ) will not sound like a Ferrari or a bmw. The first ones fires cylinder by cylinder, you hear eight cylinder, while the other ones fires two cylinders by two cylinders. What you hear is closer to four big cylinders then eight. This is not a question of being "refined" or "not refined" but a question of mechanical ( camshaft and the following , exhaust ) tweaks. Sorry I am not familliar with English technical terms but you probably understand what I mean if you know how those engines works.

And, don't get me wrong on this also , this is basically a question of personal opinions. You are free to like the sounds you want to like but it don't make people who don't agree with you dumb. Thanks

I agree. I love Corvettes and Mustangs and they can make tons of power for very reasonable prices. Exotics have a presence and quality about them untouched by those cars though. Even riding in a "lowly" Maserati, the interior and the ride quality completely blows any Viper/Corvette/etc away. As much as I love my car, I would definitely take an R8 over any cars we probably have in a heartbeat.
