It would've been a lot cooler, if the masked guys acted more professional. Like Agent 47, or Leon from the film Leon the Professional.
that's exactly the point
them being sort of average joes. The only guy with any sort of military experience is Chains (the black man with the M249)
what's the song at the end btw?
That was absolutely terrible, I've seen amateur stuff that was way better than this. Whoever directed it didn't do a very good job whatsoever and it felt like watching something completely unrelated to Payday in any way besides maybe the masks. At most, there were about a dozen cops on-frame at any given moment, makes it feel like I'm watching a bunch of 16 year olds in ill-fitting suits playing pretend in their dads office.
It's a free teaser by a small game studio for a free DLC, and you come in here expecting Heat 2.0? They're not a film studio, and their office is not even 1/3 of one floor in the building they occupy. I thought it was pretty impressive considering they're not movie makers nor do they have any kind of big budget.
Why do I want to see a full Payday movie after seeing this?
The Bain voice clip at 4:03 really killed the tension.
As much as I liked the video, I gotta say, that first person bit was pretty terrible. The video could've entirely done without it. The concept was cool, but it was just filmed too guerrilla in comparison to the rest of the vid.

If they just did that part with a few jump cuts, it probably wouldn't have felt so excessive. Honestly I think the director was experimenting with long scenes with no cuts.
And after that terrible Doom movie first person shootout scenes just leaves a bad taste.
Wait Payday has a story? Can someone tell me how I can catch up on it? I know the games don't have a storymode so I assume it is like videos and the such.

Between Payday 1 and 2, Hoxton was taken into custody and incarcerated in a high security prison. That's why in Payday 2 he sounds like a completely different dude (because he is).

I know but I want to see the story.

There is nothing to see though.
All the story we know was told through text or song, in the case of Old Hoxton.
So has the free DLC come out already? Do we know what is going to be in the DLC? a new heist?

Crimefest is an event spanning a little over a week, and for each day they reveal and release a slice of new content.
This all leads up to the Hoxton Breakout Heist being released on the 27th. More information can be seen at http://www.overkillsoftware.com/crimefest

That's just like huge tf2 updates. I like it.

There was the Payday web series which introduced some of the support characters though:

I didn't particularly like it though.

Thank god the guys who made those episodes were dropped.

Why it's a 10 minute long teaser and why they even bothered making this shit in the first place is beyond me.
Wouldnt a simple announcement suffice instead of pouring money into making something as cringeworthy as this?
what the fuck is this?
you're angry at them for making a ten minute video promoting content they're releasing for free because it isn't "professional" enough? Jeez
So what part of the game or series states that Hoxton was arrested?
The Christmas songs IIRC.

took place in between Payday the Heist and Payday 2

I mean like when we were told, did the Devs tell us, was it in a DLC?

As Tetsmega said, it was the Christmas Album

Some time after Payday: The Heist, and slightly before the events of Payday 2. It can only be assumed that after the crew traveled to Washington to begin their operations there, and while making plans for their first hits, Hoxton was the one who took the fall for it. "On tape from the Garner Group break-in (Diamond Heist) and First World Bank Robbery (First World Bank), fingerprints were all over the Panic Room (Panic Room), then your apartment's full of blueprints of banks from DC (Harvest & Trustee?)" The "slightly before the events of Payday 2" thing mostly comes from the fact that they mention is apartment full of blueprints from banks in DC, this also leads me to believe the Harvest & Trustee bank was one of the first things the crew took on after coming to DC to spread their crime wave there.
Woohoo, speculation.
This should explain most of it.

That fucking drill scene though, imagine if you were that bulldozer stuck in a suit getting a drill to the face.

Payday 1's Undercover was the first job in Washington D.C.
