what the fuck bump
That's a lot of water.
I can't remember the last time I drank a glass of water.
I don't see anything wrong with drinking that much water as long as its not in huge quantities in one sitting. In fact, drinking a lot of water is healthy for you because it improves the efficiency of most bodily functions and increases your metabolism.
I have type 1 diabetes. Before I found out (Like, just before I went to the hospital) I was drinking a shitload of water and pissing every 10 minutes.
Same here.
I'm drinking a fair bit of water these holidays because: I'm not at school and i can take a piss whenever i want, and i heard it's good for you and prevents acne :)
Maybe OP could give a couple pointers to the kidney stone guy.
If only I had fucking read this sooner.
A lady near where I lived when onto a Radio station where they had a Chug Water - Win a Wii contest, right in time for the holidays.
This woman drank the most and won the Wii, but ended up in the hospital because she wasn't doing well and ended up OD'ing from water.
True story, its really scary seeing as how I moved to a strictly Water as my liquid diet.
Saves around 500,000 calories a year so I figured I would do it.
I drink about 5-6 bottles a day, so like 2.5 Litres, not as much as you though!
Hold you wee for a Wii!
Laughed out loud when I heard the story on the radio.
WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP BUMPING SHIT
LAST POST WAS AUGUST SECOND, PEOPLE [img_thumb]goddamnfuckingidiots[/img_thumb]

I think 15 litres a day are deadly
if you drink too much your sodium concentrations can be too low
I used to drink a couple of liters of water within a few hours, but I had to stop because I began ending up shaking and nauseous afterwards.
OP, if you're in a very warm/dry environment and if your choice of food is dry it shouldn't be a problem, but it's really only required that you take in 3 liters of liquid throughout a day
Have heard that it could be dangerous to drink extremely large doses of water. because the body cant handle to much water at once so the water is being taken up into the blood and the blood values can be all crazy... but thats extreme amounts of course...
4-5 litres per day is perfectly healthy... if you drank less, it would be dangerous just because of that.
I drink enough water so my piss is clear most of the time.

He's dead already.
Only drink as much as you need to.
I would recommend exercising too.
I'm probably the only one that find it amazing that water is necessary for life. But with excessive use, it will become poison...

that's pretty much with everything
excessive = bad

So I take it that because of the diabetes you became blind, right, and the text to speech program you use to navigate facepunch neglected to read out the date?
For about a week i've been drinking about 4-5 litres of water a day, I don't do any actual exercise ( other than walking, doing daily chores and what not ) and I wondered if this was a health risk, I know your supposed to drink atleast 2 litres a day.
Even drinking a litre an hour is fine. I used to drink a litre an hour when I was out in Vernon doing a lot of exercise as it was around 40-45C (104-110F).
It's very incredibly difficult to over-hydrate yourself. Water poisoning is very uncommon.
Your kidneys can process around 10-15 litres of water a day. If you don't drink it all at once, you'll be fine.

Because anything you eat or drink has to go through your body. Your body can only hold so much. Once you overload your body, your cells will have a difficult time handling the excess water concentration. Water intoxication has the same effects on your body as drowning in fresh water.

If you drink enough, it becomes even worse.

I think you'd stop drinking before it got worse than drowning. Someone would have to be forcing water down your throat at that point.
Why in gods name are you drinking so much to being with? Aren't you supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day only. That's healthy. But anyways, it shouldn't be a health risk, you are just a hydrated person.

It's more common than you'd think, it's currently believed to be the causative factor of rhabdomyolysis (burst muscle cells) in most cases of water intoxication.

I used to drink 8-10 litres a day. Still a healthy amount. You have to drink about 15-20+ litres in a day to start water intoxicating yourself. Even then, it can still be minimal effect if it's evenly spread out throughout the day.

Yeah, it's not the worst thing in the world, especially if you're young and physically active, but it's not like you can train your kidneys to function better (as opposed to cardiovascular activity), so why work it like a slave?

Water intoxication isn't the only thing that can happen to you if you drink too much water, and constantly being thirsty is one of the largest symptoms of diabetes.
Start consuming tons of sodium if you're going to drink that much water, I recommend starting to eat Ramen with lots of salt in it. It also depends on when you drink the water, if you drink 4-5 liters at once, yep, that's a bad idea. A healthy kidney is able to excrete 1 litre of water per hour, so you're going to start getting some hyponatremia if you drink all of that at once. Remember, the broth in the ramen soup is what contains the sodium, so make sure to drink up the broth and not just eat the noodles.

and go talk to a doctor, not some idiot who thinks he knows about the medical field when he really doesn't
