Is not. as long as you have bought a legit copy of the original game, its legal.
this is largely confused, having your own copy of your own ISO is perfectly legal, having someone elses (aka downloading) is still illegal!

You probably need a modded ps3. and no, downloading a game that you rightfully purchased is still illegal. You only bought one license to that game.
Its technically legal to downloaf if you own it, but this is debateable. However, i know for sure that uploading a copy to someone else, like when downloading a torrent, IS illegal.
Ok, so I downloaded a PS2 game in .iso format--
*phone rings* It's the RIAA. They said they would like to have a word with you, son. :cop:
*phone rings* It's the RIAA. They said they would like to have a word with you, son. :cop:
RIAA only covers music. MPAA only covers movies. Usually it's the publisher of the game that sues for things like this, but the BSA or someone might get involved. Anyways, the legality of the situation as described (I'm a bit skeptical that he's being honest, but that's just gut feeling) is AMBIGUOUS. There has not, to my knowledge, been a case like this tested. Judicial decisions have said that it's legal if you own the game to download an ISO or cart rip, but nobody has yet used that as a successful defense.

It IS illegal. If you bought the game, it doesn't mean you can just go on some random pirate site and download it again. I lost my car, oh well, I'll go steal a new one, coz you know, I bought a car once.
The game is TimeSplitters 2. It's size is slightly bigger than the DVDs I have. Even being so, I managed to use a format called UDF 1.5 to fit it in.
Wrong. What you want to do is called overburning. Look it up, as it varies from disc drive to disc drive.
When I insert it into the PS3 it shows up as "Data Disc". The game is NTSC, PS3 is NTSC. Any help is greatly appreciated. Any questions are welcome.
This could be one of two things:

Your PS3 is a newer make and does not support PS2 games. This feature was cut to save costs. The original PS3s supported this, but were damn expensive.
You're burning a DVD RW+ and you need to set the booktype to DVD. Once again, this method varies from drive to drive and you need to look it up.

It IS illegal. When you buy a game, you buy the rights to that data for your use. It is legal. It's legal to make a thousand copies of a game you own, as long as you're the only one to use them. I mean, fuck, it's legal to download anything you wish as long as you delete it within twenty-four hours. It's considered, legally, a trial then. :v:
I expected this to be a spambot.
Is not. as long as you have bought a legit copy of the original game, its legal.
It's still warez.
