First commercial PS3 game running in "RPCS3" emulator

Just the nature of the Cell BE CPU makes it quite hard to emulate. It doesn't really function like a standard multi-core CPU at all because it isn't really multi-core, and is designed to be as parallel as possible. After all, it was a join venture for a new super/cluster computer architecture that Sony insisted on slapping into a few consumer devices because they paid into that venture.
That in part is why early PS3 games were a fucking shambles. Developers weren't really sure how to use the bastard device or take advantage of the co-processing elements of it. Earlier games could theoretically be easier to emulate because of that I suppose, behaving closer to standard PowerPC architecture things.
I dunno, XQEMU seems to be sharing the same kinds of breakthroughs that other emulators are getting.
True. It still may take awhile though. I'm not even that knowledgeable on how emulators work, but from what I understand there are a myriad of factors on why something might not be able to be emulated properly. Factors like the documentation of the hardware, the knowledge of each component and how they operate together, and then trying to replicate that with code, interpreting the functions of said hardware. I probably phrased that completely wrong but nonetheless it's not any surprise when it takes a long time to create a stable emulator. It is interesting though in the way that with Dolphin for example they make reports and explain some of the hurdles they overcome and how they did it. I might not understand it but it's a good read.
I remain hopeful that It can emulate MGS4 in the future
As cool as this is, I got really tired of waiting and after 8 years of wanting to play MGS4 I just got a PS3. Considering how remarkably cheap they are used, it's worth it if there are multiple PS3 exclusives you want to play. I got an original fat PS3 for around $120.
