cummins

or powerstroke?

duramax all day and night for me
i'm a sucker for the powersuck
the durashit sucks though
i've heard good things about the come-a-part
but it's still powersuck for me
i like dodge alot, i drive one, but i don't like the ram body style at all. 2006ish isn't bad but the newer generation is just shit to me. new chevy body styles make me jizz, and ford looks nice too. engine quality wise i'm not too savvy

This has a Duramax and it's ridiculous.
holy hell, what is that?
MTE Chevy Kodiak Pickup. Ironhide from Michael Bay's Transformers is the same thing, but a GMC Topkick. They were originally GM 4500 chassis cabs that were modified by Monroe Trucking Equipment to be pickup trucks. They were produced up until 2009, when GM stopped producing the Topkick and Kodiak twins.
Powerstroke for me.
I love American diesel engine names. Powerstroke your Duramax until you're Cummins everywhere.
I was just about to comment about the ridiculously sexual names for pickup truck diesels.
I personally like the Cummins, I loved the older dodge truck style (Preferably pre-1993).
Even if it wasn't used by dodge, I always thought cummins to be a respectable diesel engine manufacturer.
Also, Dodge apparently made a big Class-5 diesel hauler in the same league as the Kodiak I posted during the '90s:

Well you'll be happy to know Nissan and now Toyota too are both getting Cummins engines in their full size trucks.
I'm a powerstroke guy as well. I would give my left testicle for a jacked up 4x4 F250 with a powerstroke.....
Well, you will then definitely need the penis-enhancing affects of a lifted truck.

Tell me when they decide to put a diesel into the Tacoma or bing back the Ford Ranger with a small diesel, and I will buy three.
I've experienced a cummins only a few times. Its a good engine, pulled hard in the truck I was in.
But god damn, my neighbor has a chipped '03 LB7 duramax, and that fucker will roast tires for DAYS all the way up to 3500RPMS, and the truck rides like a dream. I've experienced plenty of powerjokes too, and they are awful. Non-chipped they have NO power, and chipped they have okay power but still not really, plus they're loud as shit, the extreme turbo whistle of 30+ pounds of boost gives you a headache after a while, and the trucks they put them in are the worst riding, least comfortable, biggest pieces of shit on the planet :v:
So for me at the moment, DMAX all the way. I still want a cummins truck at some point though since sounds awesome.
I also used a powerstroke cube truck for delivery and it was weak as hell, even if it has a V8 7.3L turbo, costed like 17k for repair in 1 years, truck was thrown to thrash.
And once borrowed a HD 3500 duramax so i can pick up the bike i bought, now it felt powerful, 500hp stock and like 800hp chipped.
duramax's are fucking awesome

The GSA sometimes sells these trucks in bulk. Check every couple of weeks. I always am on the lookout for a sale close to me, but I think most of these trucks were not used on the west coast.
Only downside to buying one from auction is that they usually need thousands in repair.
like the engine has had salt water in it repair.

Dunno what youve been smoking, my experience has been the opposite.
The one i drive occassionally is a '00 F250, crew cab long bed, with the 6 speed. Stock aside from having a superchip set to the lowest power mode.
Its got quite a bit of power, i usually skip gears due to picking up speed too fast to keep up (3-5-6 is usually how i shift.) Considering it weighs in at ~8500lbs, it moves pretty good.
As far as noise, that one is stock and fairly quiet. No loud turbo whistle, a bit of a whistle when you get onto it.
Theyre meant to be an actual pickup, which is why they ride rough. Aside from that, that one is pretty comfortable.
All i can assume is, the ones youve been around are owned by kids that buy diesels just for the hell of it, while cutting the muffler out and poorly maintaining them

If the repairs were that much, it was never maintained and of course itd feel weak. Any diesel that isnt maintained would do the same.
My dad bought his '00 powerstroke in '05, between buying it and maintaining it since then, i doubt we have spent 17k on it

How do you get salt water into your engine.

Well, if you're like me and occasionally accidentally drive into the ocean...

No. One was an 01 7.3 that my sisters boyfriend owns. 100% bone stock besides a chip. Loud as shit, horrid ride, no power. Other one is one that I experience quite often, '07 6.0 with an 800$ tune that added ~100hp, STILL doesnt pull NEARLY as good as my neighbor's duramax. The truck was a 70,000 truck new, fully loaded, the seats blow ass, its loud as SHIT, literally the worst truck I've ever ridden in.
Plus, in 3 years of owning the truck, he's put 10k into it, as it lost a trans, the EGR fucked up so he just blocked it off, put an aftermarket(but still muffled and not louder than stock really) exhaust on it, gone through 3 clutch fans, COUNTLESS other issues. Only thing that hasnt happened yet is a turbo failure.
The ford F250s + 350s with powerjokes simply suck ass.
Here's my 03 Z71 with a 3" lift

Holy shit that is sweet.
It's like, a tiny semi truck.
I'd totally remove the bed and put a small hitch instead of it for extra itty bitty semitrucc hilarity.

That thing is modified, my friend. It usually comes with no bed whatsoever, so people usually put a fifth wheel on the back.
Well, shit. I found something interesting:

That's not a poorly photoshopped Chevrolet Suburban: that's one of the GM test mules from 1985 for the truck-based Chevy Astro van. just thought I'd share.

It was an old 1995 E-350 too.
I thought that was the golden era for the 7.3, I've heard it was the best powerstroke engine made.
i heard that the 6.0 powerstrokes had a fuckton of problems. anyone know anything about that? had a buddy that i think was just full of shit tell me that
