If you get a 6.0, gotta do the EGR delete and it'll be fine. But, they have literally no power so have fun with that :v:
i heard that the 6.0 powerstrokes had a fuckton of problems. anyone know anything about that? had a buddy that i think was just full of shit tell me that
The 6.0 is a great engine if you bulletproof it.
If you don't want to take the effort to do that, you're gunna have a bad time.

If you have to do that to make an engine great, then it isn't really great, is it?
Anyone mind if I add them on steam for maitenance, general questions about vehicles?
For two reasons, I just got quick questions, don't wanna spam the thread with them, and kinda embarassed about not knowing shit about anything and will be asking p. dumb ones.

Alright then - bare with me now, cause I actually want to know -..
If I were to keep a vehicle my entire life, and maintained it, whether it be new engine, or whatever, would mileage actually matter?
Depends what your budget is.
Depends what your budget is.
Sorry, kinda worded that wrong, I mean would how much miles on the vehicle matter?
Oh in that case, the lower the better, but no it doesn't really matter.
If your gonna keep it for the rest of your life why would miles matter anyway? Your going to end up rebuilding the engine a few times over, and not necessarily low miles engines are better.
Only thing miles acculy tells you is how far the vehicle has been, not how hard its been driven nor what it has towed.
If you want something to keep your entire life best get a old GMC truck of some kind buy all the shitload NOS parts and horde them for your future. I'm not talking about radios or interior pieces. I'm talking about heads, oil pans, valve covers, oil pumps , DISTURBERS, DISTURBER CAPS, plugs...
Now if your lucky their will be a fuck load of aftermarket parts available...If your lucky.
Please tell us into more detail what's on your mind.
There's a big aftermarket for Chevy trucks, and Small blocks. I'm pretty sure there always will be too.

It's just something that's been bothering me, wanting to know what miles were worth if you keep maintaining the vehicle.

Ok, so purchase spare parts to use in the future?
Please tell us into more detail what's on your mind.
Honestly, I feel like trying to buy a PROJECT instead of a completed truck, just so I can get experience on how to fix it up. My dad would be able to teach me how, (and I'd probably tell him to have a hands off policy, because this one would be for me to learn)
All in all, the biggest thing I'm worried about is finding a part time job and hoping I could get enough money to get something like this.
Also maybe you guys could give some advice on how to learn about what parts do, how to fix them, and information such as that?

Buying spare parts for the future really really depends on how the aftermarket parts availability is, for say VW Beetle parts can be found on every shelf in a parts store, wile 37' Packard parts are very very far and few in between and a complete gasket kit is in the 600$ range. Probably any one here would have more experience than me in the area of domestic's in their parts availability.
The way Holly EFI is headed you might not even have to ever worry about carbs.
[sp]I would still have all the stuff tucked away in a attic tho with the stock carb[/sp]
I thought that was the golden era for the 7.3, I've heard it was the best powerstroke engine made.
I guess that depend, that e-350 only had like 300-350k km and engine had lot of trouble, and the maintenance was made by a mechanic.
Another question:
If I had a truck for muddin and 4 wheeling, would it be a bad idea to drive it around on the streets for fear of -... breakdown/failure or such?
As long as you take care of it, then theres really no risk but the fact that you'll probably ruin your mud tires faster :v:

Sweet, all I needed to know.
Mud tires are a lot softer than street tires
Mud tires are a lot softer than street tires
...so they will wear down a lot faster. Almost like running studless winter tires during summer
Just continuing your sentence :v:
I have mud tires and they barely look used after a year of driving
Unless you have some pretty fucked up wheel alignment, any wheel shouldn't look very used after just a year.
Snow tires will if you do a lot of driving year round.
i had goodyear kevlar mud tires on my old jeep, with a fucked up alignment, and they wore to shit in like 7 months..sold the jeep haha
Fuck yeah a proper thread.
During the week I drive a Scania R500 from 2007, I mostly drive in Sweden, but I also make trips to Finland. It runs a 15,8 litre V8 with a 12-speed manual gearbox, 620000km on the odometer today.

During the summer weekends I drive a Chevrolet C1500 454 SS from 1990.
