i have not
Don't worry then, we'll take good care of you. :quagmire:
so how many people are coming and how awkward will it be?
Current list. Might grow.
I have been there 2 times
I'm attending. I'll probably sit with my friends somewhere else, I'll consider joining you. Will try to find you guys anyways.
Lapnar, which zone are you going to seat FP in?
Lapnar, which zone are you going to seat FP in?
Whatever people wants when that time comes. Might do a vote or whatever. my dad apparently does not trust random strangers on the internet with my security so he will be coming with me, now this is gonna be the most awkward event of the year
He's not going to get in without a ticket though. Just tell him not to worry, there's thousands of people there, and security and police patrolling regularly. [editline]4th September 2011[/editline] He could purchase a day-ticket, but I'm not sure if those are available from day one, and they are hella expensive. Alternatively he could ask someone somewhere to escort you in I guess.
i have already told him all that he is just paranoid
I guess we might be able to meet up outside before you go in as well, but as I said, he's not gonna be able to get in without a ticket.
Ive been to a few conventions in the past, in proper convention halls with air con and all that, but it was still insanely warm and the smell of sweat clung to the air. Add to that the temperature that all those computers would give off, It sounds crazy... that said id love to go but lack a passport and a suitably sized monitor to take with me :'(

so anyone over 18 here willing to take on the task of taking "care" of me so i might not need to have my dad with me which is terribly embarassing
so anyone over 18 here willing to take on the task of taking "care" of me so i might not need to have my dad with me which is terribly embarassing
I turn 18 in January, and guess I can take "care" of you :v: :quagmire:

Been sitting at a bit different places every year and often have to sit with a sweater and still freeze a little. Unless you're really unlucky with who you sit with then you won't really notice any odd smells, the crew is also very good at telling people to go take a shower over the speakers which at least makes anyone intending to take a shower take one instead of forgetting it. I have gone past a few places where it literally smelt like a unclean public toilet, but generally it's not smelly anywhere, at least not differently from anywhere else since you get used to the actual sweat smell that is there.
Ay! Arr! I'm going. I think atleast.. If all goes according to my plan, I'll go. (Very likely) EDIT: And I would end up celebrating my birthday there :v: Also, Larpar; I expect you to be my guide! :D
Of course I'll be your guide :v: I'll add you to the list when I'm on my computer.
I know the way to Bunnpris from there. I shall guide you there if you wish so.
I know too. How many times have you been there Runar? [editline]5th September 2011[/editline]
Ay! Arr! I'm going. I think atleast.. I'll join too, but I'll be sitting in a tree outside.
I'll join too, but I'll be sitting in a tree outside.
Yeah, that's quite a lot cheaper I guess.
I know too. How many times have you been there Runar?
Just once BUT I WANT TO TAKE HIM THERE FIRST
[editline]5th September 2011[/editline]
How big is this shit? Over 5000 participants each year, second largest computer party in the world, only smaller than the Swedish "Dreamhack" (But The Gathering is in one big hall and not several smaller ones, so this obviously makes it better, fuck off swedes).
Dreamhack does indeed consist of several smaller halls, and one huge There's ~4500 people in this image. I'm not trying to shit all over The Gathering, I'm sure it's great, but please be truthful when you post. There's no need for rivalry, I'm sure both festivals can coexist peacefully. ;)

Why are you trying to shit all over this thread with dreamhackbutthurtedness because you are Swedish? He never said TG was the biggest Computer Party and he said SCANDINAVIANS arrang proper computer parties. Nowhere did he state NORWEGIANS hold proper computer parties. This thread has nothing to do with Dreamhack so why would he give that a lot of attention and detail? TG has some 5500 people in the hall at the same time (it has room for 5000 people sitting at the desks, but daily visitors and participants without PC's also needs to be counted)

[editline]5th September 2011[/editline] And learn how to take a joke.
Calm down peeps I was just responding in the same tounge-in-cheek manner as the OP. No "butthurtedness" on my part. Edit Ah, I see what you mean now. Redacted!
