Its a pretty simple argument. If you're basically saying "I follow the good tenants of religion and it makes me a good person" THEN DROP THE FUCKING RELIGION AND JUST BE A GOOD PERSON.
when the holy book contradicts itself, it might be time to look for a new holy book
Who said that it contradicts itself? You just need someone that studied the religion it self to explain you what it means. I always read the holy book, but not always I don't understand specific accurate meanings of some parts. IF there is a heaven, then being a good person would be the way in.

If a guy doesn't want to be a Muslim, it's his choice, if a guy doesn't want to be a Christian, it's also his choice.

If I say, "look, it's your choice if you want to give me your wallet. But if you don't I'll stab ya mate", that's not exactly a choice.
That's what most people ignore. They forget that non-believing will end you up in hell.
i feel like you're not really reading what anyone is saying to you

It's all about being a sycophant to an idea.

They shouldn't have to do anything like that. No one ever said you had to be either religious or a good person.

No one ever said you had to be either religious or a good person.
no it's just superfluous and doesn't make a lot of sense I have no problem with people believing in a god or gods. I just haven't heard a reason that isn't logically unsupported. Don't know how the universe came about? Welcome to the ever shrinking world of the god of the gaps idea Don't know how life came about? See the above Don't know how morals came about? Neither do I Don't know how to live your life properly? I don't think anyone does Scared of death and suffering and want someone to save you from it? I don't think our desires matter in that regard Most of the reasons and ideas that drive our desires for a god in our life in my experience with the actual philosophical discussion of the subject are variations of those reasons. Feel free to believe it, but I'm not sure why those reasons are good enough really. If you're able to choose an eternal gods words and thoughts and rules and decide for yourself what is best against whatever the religion says, then the dogma that does remain with you doesn't make much sense, does it? why not just be a diest then if you desire a god so much?

That, and because religion means different things for different people, I couldn't tell you why they have beliefs that you perceive to be a paradox or don't make much sense. But fuck all if the idea that "being a good person and not be religious is the only non-paradoxical thing a person can be" that Pantz Master brought up makes any more sense.
Not at all.
Then it appears that my education has failed me completely.
Great HQ thread 10/10 would read again. [editline]22nd May 2015[/editline]
This guy says exactly what I think. I don't hate muslims, I hate islam.
This right here, best mod. (User was permabanned for this post ("Gimmick hitler" - Craptasket))
