I mean, sorry if some of my followers do that kind of thing or like it, and I really don’t mind it that much - it just greatly disinterests me. I won’t go out of my way to be disgusted by it unless it’s like some Egoraptor clone flash animator making a Sonic The Hedgehog parody and making fun of recolors in 2012 or something, you know.
With that said, I very rarely do ‘ironic’ artwork. It’s meant to be a joke, yes, but I do sincerely like most of the stuff I do art for. That, or I do it and in-turn end up liking it afterward. I don’t believe that you can ironically like something without a genuine interest in it to some extent. I think a lot of people just lie to themselves about it, and that’s become evident to me over time as I’ve read comments on my work as well as other non-serious works that I’ve seen.
More specifically, I tend to avoid over-the-top expressions, because I prefer deformed, blank stares. Not much wacky stretching and squashy faces. If I do do it, it’s usually literal stretching and twisting, not really bouncy stuff or something, i don’t really know/
I also don’t do obscenities very often, I like to challenge my design abilities and have them do the work. I could take shortcuts and just draw a bunch of guro and scat porn or something, but that’s too easy. At the most, I might toss in a dick or something, but it’s more for comedic effect rather than shock-value. I’ll admit though, I’ve been tempted to do stuff like that from time to time, just ‘cause I know I can. Especially when I get chumps commenting on my artwork saying stuff like “Oh WoW this is so cREAPY but its not The Worst I’ve SEEN! Try again internet! xDD”, I really wanna wreck those people sometimes.
