Memes themselves aren't something people should be hating. They operate largely on novelty value, so they wear out pretty fast and are extremely sensitive to overuse. It could be argued that humor itself relies on surprising twists hence why the repetition of something keeps making it more and more unfunny.

I'm sure someone will strike comedy gold in the future with an arrow to the knee joke since it'll have been long forgotten by then.
