Wasn't too horribly written, I've seen worse. Way worse. Just a few minutes browsing FF.net can yield about 50 things that are way worse.
Major problem is too much "-x- said." Usually stories have more variation then that, like: "-x- snarled, with his nose scrunched up, growling and drooling."
And the new line thing every scene/moment/whatever.
The character itself, it's common not to change anything about it, since well... All the characters in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon are just normal Pokemon with a few accessories, or none at all. Could have added an accessory.
... And drew it better.
Yeah it isnt too bad. But it still reeks of genericness, if you know what I mean.

I don't like scene/emo, anthro/furries or bright colours, but I don't see that much wrong with these 2, I mean, anatomy is a bit off, yeah, they're not good, but they're certainly not awful.
