Pop culture simply permeates the Internet more than anything else because of its user-content-driven nature. TF2 is being crossovered with pretty much anything (especially what you can put in GMod), Star Wars references in SciFi are almost a staple, memes are spreading in all directions. Try to see a crossover from both sides sometimes. Maybe some MLP fans don't like Fable mixed with their show either.
