Actually, Alex's old design looked a little more tomboyish, as you can see on the picture comparaison (2003/2010) here:

Preston used that "everyone (especially gay men) get confused by her gender" joke on her old design. The problem is that, now he redesigned Alex to be fully feminine, it doesn't really make sense to use that 'trait' now.
He's really the kind of artist that think the first concepts/ideas should stay forever, to the point it's just ridiculous.
Obviously, Something Awful members don't fail to deliver quality stuff from Preston's works.

I thought the pirate chick was in that picture where Dobby said that all his childhood friends were imaginary? If that's the case, then he probably has some kind of weird obsession with the character since apparently it was one of the bright areas of his terrible, hellish childhood and can't let it go for that reason.

I really hate when people who don't know how to internet lingo try to. If someone's going to use proper capitalization, punctuation, and sentence structure - "That guy's got no sense of anatomy!" - they aren't going to abbreviate something else - "He sux!". Also "What epic fail!" doesn't make sense, a person would either say "Epic fail!" or "What an epic fail".
