Good versus evil, that evil being an entity that wishes to exist. Which oddly enough does exist, however will stop existing eventually. So it looks for "insert ultimate power"-kingdom hearts to exist. Aka the story is basically saying, in order for our conflict to exist WE Must Use generic ultimate power items this time we are literally Telling you that we are!
Oh and I forgot, the main character literally Is a broken soul this time completely.

Starts to get slightly intresting. Evil man who looks like he can sip from a cup of darkness "seriously one of the more intimidating and presence filled characters", betrays the organization of "balance/good" to find ultimate power in the greatest conflict ever known. For it was a "insert ultimate power item"- Keyblade that was once sought but really for what reason other then "ultimate power".
Evil man creates a shallow shade like being of the main character ven and uses it to piss off him and his friends.
As a result of pissing off ven and friends it is formed and crow guy is pretty much owned.
All three very generically "insert magical power place and item", good versus evil.
Having said that, besides the inserted DISNEY. There must be 1 single dude in the entire story development side who knows how to make a "reality". It is this, that is the best part of Kingdom hearts for this "reality" allows the only deep parts of kingdomhearts to exist.
The islands *mysterious starting islands*.
How darkness works in the realm.
The enemies reason for existing.
The powerful representations often rather decent metaphorical occurrences.
Very few instances that bring a interesting insight into the madness and search to the "hearts of evil and good".
Yet what is it backed by? There is no reason other then being bored for the enemies to ever search for ultimate power. Even in kh2 what would the enemies have done if they won, Rule the realms of course. It isn't like they are doing so to save the realms from utter destruction"ala fable 3", or do anything else other then rule like the bastards they are.
I barely played KH but I liked it for it's gameplay, I think it's kind of weird to do a disney + final fantasy crossover though.

No story concerning "generic" evil, or generic "power" is deep.
