I don't know who pewdiepie is. Seeing his popularity on dA, I probably don't need to find out.
He's just a guy who does Let's Plays for horror stuff like Afraid of Monsters and Cry Of Fear, it's nothing really special, so I'm unsure what to think of the massive fanbase.

Woah woah, super late reply but you're kinda misrepresenting things here.
The Arkh project is about a bunch of gods that enslave humans and the two main characters are in a master-slave romance because kawaii I guess. There are white and non-white gods and white and non white human slaves.
The main problem with the Arkh Project is that they (of course) want to make a AAA quality game on everyone else's dime. They have NO in house developers. They ask for donations from everyone else on tumblr then they use that to hire modelers, programmers, level designers, even concept artists.
Oh and by the way, this is what they got for concept art after spending a few thousand dollars or so:
