Seems to me like it's another one of his "FUCK YOU JOCKS!!!" strips. The dad(?) is supposed to be a person who automatically hates anything related to nerdy things like video games and the fact that he has no problem with the kid playing with real blocks for a similar reason is supposed to make him a hypocrite. The "MINECRAFT? MORE LIKE WITCHCRAFT!" thing is just a really, really awful pun.
This is actually a very common theme in Dobson's comics as Dobson is an enormous manchild who thinks his childhood is more important than anyone else's (hence his obsession with suggesting that Zelda cartoon nobody else likes is undeniably good and should be considered canon) and he never got the memo that the 80's jock stereotype is extremely dated.
