I have always found deviantart to be like this closed of little box of imaginary happiness.
They're all blindly going ''aah how nice!'' or ''sweet, i love this!'' But what about critiscism?
Its like living in a fantasy world were its happy and joyfull all the time but when someone
gives critiscism, its shunned and frowned upon as some kind of contaminant from the less happier
outside world.
And by joining the crowd with their almost obsessive way of boasting eachother, you only help
to further fuel this fucked up cycle of ignorance.

it's like that in a lot of easily accessible art communities, unfortunately. Ever been to flickr? All it is is one big circlejerkathon of people posting their latest picture to a group and pasting a pre-written "You won the [blank] award!! As seen on [group you submitted this to already you recyclical narcissist]!! blingeetrophy.gif"
granted that's pretty prevalent on deviant art, what with the group stuff, but it's the only active form of community left on flickr, and even then all the life is sucked out of it by the way people cut and paste responses and just slather them all over stuff submitted to a group, like a warehouse full of monkies stuffing mail into envelopes.
follow this quote for a prime example of a flickr member, attitude soaring around the fact he's $25,000+ on his equipment, regardless of the fact half of his stuff is the kind of generic hipsterish photo work you'd expect to find whilst sorting through random tumblrs, albeit taken with very nice cameras.
